thank you for your suggestions. I started WW before I decided on the band. I've done WW before and once lost 50lbs, but never kept it off. I like the WW plan because of its flexibility - but needed additional help which is why I decided to go with the band. I just had my surgery on 1/23 and still on th liquid diet. I do get quite hungry but when I do take in food e.g. a creamy Soup, I feel full for awhile and a little fatigued?? Anyway, I could use a mentor as well and your pre-surgery weight, current weight and age is pretty close to mine. I hope I can rely on you sometime. This is a bit of a struggle and they only reason I haven't slipped is because I hate getting sick.

Ok, that last statement was negative. I'm trying very hard to stay on track because I have to lose the weight. I couldn't take it another minute. Train your mind and the body will follow

Welcome Sharons - Yes you can rely on me. Yes this is hard (liquid stage) but you can do it... Full is a new feeling - it's something you really have to concentrate on - it's not the same full feeling that you use to get - you use to feel physically and mental full after you ate - now cuz you are eating so little you will feel physically full - but not mentally - you won't be really satisfied in other word - satiety - well this is my struggle still and I am 18 months out... When you want to eat - just get up and do something else - clean out a drawer get on the computer (that's what I do)

Are you eating canned' Soups or homemade Soups - I highly suggest that you make homemade soups they are more satisfiying.. - how long do you have to be on liquids?

The main reason to follow orders is that you are healing right now and you do not want to damage your stiches that are holding your band in place..

This is still hard for me at time even now - right this second I am hungry - I want to eat - but I don't want to be obese any longer - so here I sit sipping tea - I am beat today went to Vegas over the weekend - but I have gym tonite - could I skip it ya - but will I NO.. I had a few treats this weekend (drinks & sweet) since I had these treats - I must exercise so that I don't gain any weight back cuz you know how it goes - oh it's only a pound - then it's 5 lbs then 10 - well you know the story - you have to stop it at 1 IMHO.

Sharon - this is a journey and yes you have to retrain your brain - and this will be a struggle at times for the rest of our lives - food is our drug of choice - and it's easy to let it get its dirty little hands around our heads - telling us it's ok to over eat.. Well GF it's not - you are only 48 - so by your 50th bday you will be in such a better place than you are right now...

Come back often - daily really - I find that lbt is my transfer addiction :0)

I responded to this yesterday !!!! I don't know what happened to my post:cursing:

1st of all you have lost 36 lbs since surgery and that's great !!!

Ok now on to the work - are you tracking your calories - keeping a food diary - losing weight is all about calories in vs calories out - I am a big proponent of keeping a food diary/logging your calories (dailyplate.com or fitday.com) it's a great learning tool - I kept a food diary for the 1st year.

Those Protein bars are like 200 calories for most of them - why aren't you eating real food instead..

lunch salad - how much dressing - you are just eating Protein for dinner - no veggies no starches. You could not be eating enough calories too - I know that sounds strange but eating healthy doesn't mean starving yourself..

Also how much are you eating per meal - just cuz you slime doesn't necessarily mean that you have enough restriction it could mean that you ate too fast, took too big of a bite and didn't chew well enough.

For me EXERCISE went hand in hand with my eating healthy - for first yr I went 4-5 times a week.. Your Wii just might not be strenuous enough - do it twice aday till you can walk outside again (1 hr total) - do you have a mall close to your house go walk there. While watching tv - during commercial stand up and walk in place.. The more you move the more calories you are going to burn..

During my weight loss phase I ate between 800-1200 calories a day - low fat - SF - I ate 3 meals plus 2 or 3 Snacks depending on the calories of the snacks..

You can do this - you really can - you just need to get your butt in gear - you know what you are doing wrong - you know what your little secrets are - so quit making excuses to yourself and get back on the band wagon - You deserve to be healthy - you deserve to be fit - Love yourself enough to make time for what you want and need to do to get healthy..

Janet,

Thank you so much for your words. I have not been counting my calories and that is probably a problem. Last time I was counting them I wasn't eating enough and I started to eat more. I probably have fallen back into the trap again. Yes, it's very weird not eating enough. Also, I know I need to start exercising more. Me and another person are going to start going to the gym Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's starting tomorrow. I go on vacation in May and I would love to lose 15 more pounds.

I do have a questions about the Protein Bars, the doctor seems like I should have some kind of supplement to get all my protein. Since I'm a pretty picky eater the Protein Bars worked for me.

When I have lost weight before I was a sorry loser but I was hoping I would lose a little bit faster. I feel great and off meds I should happy with that.

I saw where you were going to vegas I hope you won. I haven't been there is year but I liked it.

Thanks again,

Darla

Hey gang, Sounds like you all are doing good so far. Long, I know how you feel about 99 1/2. I am at 59 for a week now and I want 60. Supposed to go see Dr tomorrow but bad weather is moving in again so I am going to have to reschedule again. Don't think I need a fill though. Will go next week. I had an eventful weekend. Had my grandchildren on Sunday. Saturday DH and I went and picked out granite counter, sink, faucet and ceramic tile for floor. Tomorrow I will go order a window and then all I got to do is pick some paint. Today I emptied all of my china cabinets to get ready to move everything out for flooring. I am tight alot these days and have gotten stuck alot. I am hungry and then I have to wait. Oh well. At least I am still loosing. Slowly, but surely. Janet, any good shows out there in Vegas? Glad to hear everyone is doing okay so far.

Good Morning Gang...

Darla - If you are a picky eater I understand - my DS is a picky eater and so is my GS  If your doc says to have a Protein Bar then have one - but not 3 - the usually are like 200 calories each - and we sometime treat them like candy and eat too much - Just focus on eating healthy and exercising the weight will come off - Vary the calories and don't go over 1200 a day and you will do fine.. Remember we didn't have bypass so weight isn't going to drop off like we think it should - 1 to 2 lbs a week is what is expected w/the band...

As for my Vegas trip - no I didn't win anything really - the last machine I played on Sat night - I cashed out $5 ahead but I did shop :cool2:- got one pair of pants size 2  could not pass those up..

Tweety - Are you counting your calories - how much are you eating alot of pple gain when they move to mushies - you are in bandster hell right now - time between being banded and your 1st fill - Eat your prescribed meals - and when you are hungry - get on the computer - go clean out a drawer - distraction always works for me.. Again Focus on eating healthy & exercising and the weight will come off.

Hey Becky - Didn't have time for a show - we weren't there that long and my gf Peaches wanted to do the karaoke so that's what we did Sat nite... I know you are just going to love your new kitchen you should take some before and after pics then post them - I would love to see your kitchen transformation... Congrats on your 59 your 60 will come

Long - Do I hear you yelling yet?? At the outlets - I got stuff at Ann Taylors and Ann Taylors loft - You and I would have so much fun shopping -

Kathy - take some long walks on the beach while you are on vacation...

Ok here's a pic of me & peaches (my gf from Canada and Lucky #7 band mate)

I gotta go jump in the shower - I am already 15 mins past my schedule cuz I got on the computer

Yes, Janet, that was me you heard screaming this morning about 430am.

I HIT 100 LBS LOST TODAY!!!!!!

I can't believe it. When I had this done, I was hopeful but not sure I really believed I could do it. I started at 305 and am at 205 now, so you know my next milestone is to get a 1 in front of my weight. Now I actually have visions of actually reaching goal! Whodda thunk it? Well I know you did, Janet, you have faith and belief in everyone of us and that means so much. I just want to thank you for the support and help you have given me since the day you started this very thread. I think I posted on it that very day.

Oh and yes, I would've loved to have been shopping with you at Ann Taylor and Loft outlets!

BTW, anything ever come of the plans to try and meet in Vegas in April??

Congratulations Long on your 100 lbs!!!!:cursing:

It is so exciting and encouraging to read all the success stories on this link. I agree with Janet lbt is a great support!

Janet you look great in your picture. It has been 83 days since my surgery and i have lost 47 lbs. It seems since my second fill that the weight loss has slowed down a little. I really appreciate all the advice you give, even the tough stuff. We have to hear the truth and you have already walked the walk. I am glad to hear you and your friend had a great time in Vegas, you deserve it.

Well I am off school today because of inclement weather and am going to get my info together for taxes.:tt1:

thank you Indigo. You are so encouraging. Las Vegas - one of my favorite vacation places (live back East). Last time I was there, we rented scooters and rode them all over the place. Loved it, parking right at the entrance of the casino was great - though I'm not really a gambler...well I do like that crap table.

Without having my instructions in front of me, I was to stay on Clear liquids for 48 hours post surgery, then progress to full liquids for one week and then, mushies for a week before transitioning into solid foods. At this point, I have about 2-3 more days to go on the full liquids and then I can start with the mushies. I'm doing better with the full liquids than I did with the clear. I thought I would gnaw my tongue off by the last day. Actually, the last evening of clear - I broke down and drank about 3 oz's of a store bought Protein shake. Luckily I didn't have any problems, but I couldn't even stay asleep during the night because my stomach was grumbling so much. I was about as happy to get to full liquids as many of you are in losing a lb. Forgive me but I am still so very new.

I have been eating store bought Soup. I'm not much of a cook anymore; recently separated and son is grown with his own family and life. I work and attend school in the evenings - so spending time in the kitchen has not been one of those things I've been proned to do. I suspect this too will change (or need to). One step at a time, one day at a time. A friend of mine occassionally will make dinner for me. He makes a heck of a bean Soup, so this time - he brought me only the broth from the soup. Boy, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Anyway, I'm trying to log my "points" which is simply the WW way of food journaling - even though there is no way I'm exceeding my daily points. It's just another method to keep me on track; as well as keeping plugged in here.

I have a treadmill and before the holidays, I was doing pretty good...at least 3-4X per week for about 30 minutes. No incline, but had started to increase my speed. However, I haven't not been able to get my mind back into it. Really need help with this. When you first started walking how often and long did you walk. Right now I'm looking at it as a chore, another retraining of the brain needed here. Who would believe that I used to work out in the gym 3-4X per week for about 2hrs per day doing some pretty intensive stuff. I did this for 5 years and I felt wonderful - even with the weight. Now, I can barely walk on the treadmill for 5 minutes at the lowest incline and speed before I'm wondering how much longer. Can anyone relate to this? One of my long term goals is to get back to this place again, but I'm having a problem getting started.

Well enough out of me. I'll check in fairly regularly cause I find strength and encouragement from everything that I've read on this forum so far - even when someone's day doesn't go right; reminds me I'm not alone.

Oh yeah, before I go... Long - CONGRATULATIONS ON ACHIEVING THE 100 MARK. You have every right to be proud and I bet you look real good too!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
