I am 61 (will be 62 in November) and had my Lap Band with Hital Hernia repair on September 12th. I've lost 29 lbs. so far. It's not a quick fix, still have to work at it, but it does help. Good Luck

the psych. thing is easy. the first hr. you will be talking to the psych. mine was great for me. i was talking about things that had been bothering me for a long time. i needed that. i went in determined that all i was going to talk about was my surgery.

the second hr. was a true or false test about different things. no big deal. mine just showed i was a little depressed. i have been for almost 4yrs. since my husbsand died.

so don't worry about it. you will do fine.

I am 61 (will be 62 in less than a month) I had the hiatal hernia repair with the LBS. My surgery was on September 12th., and I've lost 29 lbs. Feel great. Was real sore at first, especially on right side (might be where port is). Have not had a refill as yet, but I limit my amounts to 4 oz. Finally getting real food. Looking forward to a salad and carrotts. (if that's what I had craved before the surgery, I wouldn't have had a problem). No reflux since hiatal hernia repair, so I've thrown away the Gavisocon (I should have owned stock in the company). Good luck to all:thumbup:

The nurse prac. who did my psych eval was a friend of mine. So funny. She said that she knew that I wasn't suicidal but had seen me at times that I might be homicidal.

i'm glad you finally got your surgery date. mine happened so fast i didn't have time to think. went in to see the dr. and was told to start the liquid diet the next day. i like to have a little time to think about things first. i should be glad because i know you've had to wait for awhile. i know you are getting excited. how long do you have to be on the liquid diet?

plastic surgery - tomorrow I have a consult for PS. I contacted the office and was just wanting some info, they said they had a FREE consult appt availavle, so I grabbed it. I know I will not do anything until next year, but at least I will have an idea of the options and cost.

I am still almost 40# away from my goal.. but am starting to lose once again after my last fill on 9/19/08

Sunshine531,thanks for your reply:So your Dr.did not require a psyco exam ,so its not a tricare thing.Well it must be a good way for the hospital to get more money.I was told it takes 2 appts.1 short one and one with paper work on my part.I think that is fill in the circles ,test.I to have diabetes and hi-BP all under control with meds.and i also have atrial fibritlation,so i have to see the cardiology and have a DSE run on me ?I guess i don't know what that test is?has any one ,had to do one? I had my upper G.I. done this morning, and that was the first one for me.Anyway, still working on that 30lbs

Wow! it's been busy here! I am suffereing from internet withdrawl... problems with the WiFi at the RV park. Didn't realize I wasn't getting posts from this thread on my Blackberry! So I just had to catch up on 3 pages of posts. So I just skimmed really, but, for those of you who don't already know, Janet (IndioGirl) called me yesterday afternoon to tell me that her baby brother passed away suddenly. She asked me to pass it on to the threads she visits most and let you all know that she's not going to be online for a while. This was totally unexpected and she's quite devastated. If anyone wants to send a card, I have her address. Just PM me and I"ll get it to you.

And, please everyone keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. This is a very tough time for her.

As I said, my internet access is limited right now, but I have been getting posts (excpet for this thread) and PMs on my Blackberry and can respond that way, too.

Since I've been going to a psychiatrist and therapist for decades for my bi-polar disorder - my evaluation was just a regular appointment.

He OK'd the procedure and sent my surgeon a short note with his approval.

For "non-regulars" I've heard varying reports.

Many are given that endless True/False questionnaire that is designed to determine critical issues about personality and cognitive processes.

Basically - he/she must determine if you are capable and willing to make this decision for a life-changing event and disciplined enough to follow through with necessary skills that follow.

Right. Again, I think it is good to take the time to know if you are really serious about the surgery. Maybe I did have a questionaire. I remember not answering several questions. I think they gave it to me before I went in for the consult. I had a consult, blood work, and was weighed all at the same time.

Apples--am I reading this correctly? You had surgery June 2008 and are down 104 lbs???? If so, you are hereby THE QUEEN OF LAPBAND!

Nope, far from The Queen. I started eating like a LB person back on 11/22/08. Figured as long as I had to do the 6 mo. medically supervised diet, I may as well get a head start. Actually, I think it helped me in the long run. Not such an adjustment after surgery. I am soooooooooo thankful for my band!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
