Hi Road King~

That's GREAT!! Remember to ask for the anti-nausea meds in your IV for when you wake up....they help a lot! You will have most of the day to rest at home. Take your pain meds as prescribed the first day or two and then see how you feel.....I walked around my house a lot, which might be why I never had any gas pain. Please stay in touch as soon as you feel up to posting. I'll be praying for you. You have such a GREAT team of doctors and nurses ready to take the best care of you!! Try to get a good nights' sleep.....that will help you be more relaxed. It's almost here.....Are you excited? Nervous? I'm now 5 days post-op and feel about 90% back to normal. The bruising around my port is awful....multi colored yellows and blues. That is my only complaint for pain today. Still not hungry at all, sipping crystal light in between my two meals of Optifast shakes. Best wishes for a quick, uneventful surgery.....and a speedy recovery!!!

Today is my first day to post on this site. Have been considering going to Mexico because of the price then found TLC. I have my seminar this Saturday and I am so excited. I feel so much safer staying close to home. I plan on getting started right away. Can't wait to hear how Road King's surgery goes today! Look forward to all ya'lls advice as I start down this long road.

Hi Doug (Cowboy) and Hi Minock!!

So glad you found this link and that you're going with TLC..... I am one week post-op having been banded last Thursday 1/17/08. First of all, I love Dr. Kim...he is wonderful and I completely felt at ease knowing he was my surgeon. This was my first surgery...so I was scared to death about the thought...but Dr. Kim really made me feel safe and at ease. I can't say enough good things about everyone I've met at TLC and the Prestonwood surgery center. They were all very thoughtful and kind and made this difficult decision easier for me. Best of luck!!! Keep me posted on how you're doing along the way.

Stacey

Thanks for the reply Stacy. I think my biggest fear is the nausea from the anesthesia. I've had a few minor surgeries with a general and have thrown up almost every time. Even with the anti nausea medicine. Oh well, I guess if that's the worst thing that happens, then I can deal with that. Please keep up informed of your progress! As we all get close to our surgery dates, I'm sure we all get more nervous. Having someone right ahead of me sure makes it a little easier.

Cindy

Tweenwater, are you able to get up and about yet? I know some doctors want you to get up, like, the very day you have the procedure.

I hope it gets easier for you to get your shakes down. I just can't imagine it now!

Mostly, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Hi Angie~

Yes...I feel great! I did walk around my house A LOT the night of surgery and then the next 2-5 days. I never had any gas pain that others have stated. My biggest area of pain was the port incision. It bruised terribly and hurt big time....but I took the pain meds every 6 hours for the first 3 days (I think) and then only at bedtime. I've not taken anything for the past 3 days. My doctor also wants us up and walking as much as possible. I'm not ready to hit the gym or anything but taking nice long walk with my family and our dog are nice.... Today was such a beautiful day we walked and played outside for 2 hours. My shakes are going down easier....had two shakes today, 2 bottles of Vitamin Water, and a cup of Tomato Soup. This is the first day I've had this much to eat/drink... Not because I'm feeling hungry but b/c I know I need the energy.

*** thanks for checking on me!! best of luck to you on 2/19 ***

Are you doing a 2 week pre-op? I'll be checking in on you along the way too! Take care!!

I also started driving again at one week post-op.....I probably could have driven sooner but wanted to be off the pain meds (even though I was only taking it at bedtime, I didn't feel good about driving yet)

Hi, tweenwaters, thanks for your concern. I am SOOOO excited! I start the Optifast February 5. They told me at TLC that I would have two days of Clear liquids only after the surgery, but then I have to stick to the Optifast only for a couple of more weeks...sigh...

Another Q if anybody knows it; my daughter is asking me to fly to KC one week after the surgery. I figure people who go to Mexico must fly within a couple of days, but airline seats are a tight fit for me, and I'm wondering if the sore tummy won't really bother me flying. If anybody knows anything about this, I'd sure appreciate it....

HI to all the TLCEdge patients. I too had mine done there on Jan 24th, and it's been pretty rough going but I think I'll make it. Dr. Veninga did my surgery, and as far as I can tell now, he did a great job. I had the RX for Hydrocodone and Phenergan for nausea. Still having a little pain and like you, it's hard to get down even 1 or 2 of the Optifast shakes. I just don't want *anything*. Feels strange, doesn't it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
