  • So excited for you guys! I would love to hear more about you and your journey. I am 49, live in Austin and have struggled with weight my whole life. My surgery is actually a revision from the lap band

I had surgery on Oct 12. Doing well so far as I’m now on Soft Foods. Does anyone else get a gross after taste when drinking cold water? The doctor said its not abnormal but i was hoping someone knows when/if that will stop.

I totally understand this thread! I’m 4 weeks post op and that first week it was so painful to drink. Like fluids would hit my stomach and my abdomen would seize and scream in pain. I actually ended up getting readmitted a week later because of dehydration. I just couldn’t get enough in and take the pain.

That sounds terrible. I hope you’re able to drink now without pain.

I'm drinking these BariWise high protein cream of mushroom and cream of chicken Soup and really like them. They aren't any thicker than the Protein Shakes. I've also gotten FairLife protein shakes and they're much lighter. more like drinking 2% milk. I still haven't lost any weight and I desperately need to just quit getting on the stupid scale.

Thanks I didn’t know about the BariWise soups. I think I lost weight as my surgeon cleared me to keep taking my Celebrex. II have rheumatoid arthritis and the week before surgery without my Enbrel and Celebrex was painful. If not for my Celebrex I wouldn’t be able to do the daily 2 miles on the treadmill. I know the Celebrex has reduced my stomach inflammation as my restriction got more intense the day I didn’t take it.

I'm doing alright. I'm really struggling to stay hydrated. For the first few days, the smallest amount of Water would make me so sick. Now, not so much nausea. Just hard to get much down! How about you? How are you feeling?

I am doing much better than first two days. Sorry about your nausea . I had it once chewed Zoltan and was fine. But I also have figured out some of my sleeves preferences. First off I had to stop using the Vital Collagen protein powder. That was giving me sever diarrhea and stomach upset. I figured out to take a deep breath put water in mouth let air out, hold breath swallow liquid sitting in mouth, I find I can drink more this way as I must naturally swallow a lot of air when I drink. I also figured out hot or warm liquids nay, NOTHING COLD.
I also find the daily 2 mile walk on treadmill really helped also. Today I am allowed puréed food but didn’t start I am kinda afraid.

I can’t drink cold anything. That causes a cramp. At least now I won’t have to worry about being tempted by Ben&Jerry :)

Hi all, I had my sleeve surgery on 10/04… I haven’t really lost much weight like about 6lbs. Has anyone been going through the same thing?… not losing that much weight… just getting a little bit worried and depressed

Hi surgery twin my gastric bypass was also Oct 11 21
How are u doing?
I had no pain or gases
I'm down 19 pounds

His surgery twin,

im doing ok, each day is different, hormones seem to be all over the place as through fat loss Estrogen surges with fat loss.
befire surgery I lost 16lbs and now I’ve lost 16lbs since surgery.
I thought it would be faster but grateful all the same as wouldn’t be able to do it without.
I had the sleeve done.
I had gas pains and shoulder pain and I still suffer with right side stomach when I bend down etc

incisions ok though.
I find it not to bad getting soft food down.
I’ve started a week early with soft foods as soups were going straight through me but I can’t manage more than about 4 tea spoons full.
even then it’s a struggle.
my main struggle is fluids getting the right amount in so I’ve brought protein juice and it’s definitely helping.
how are you doing?

Getting ready for surgery. So far everything is going good waiting on anesthesiologist to come in and surgeon. Still worried about my liver but here we go.

It’s so interesting to see how different all the post op diets are. I had the surgery two days ago and had Clear Liquids the day after and now on the liquid diet for two weeks. Yesterday I was starving! Today I am barely eating. Everything tastes super sweet and all my options look “yuck”. How often was everyone eating and drinking at this point?

I did a week clear liquid, a week full liquids with protein, and now I'm finishing my week of soft foods and proteins. Sweet anything is straight out. I find myself struggling on protein shakes and yogurt.

Hi

My care seems alot different to America. I live in Spain. I have a nutrition lady who for 1 month before gave me a full diet plan on what I liked then 3 days before it was water and 3 protein shakes a day. Had bypass on 6th

For 2 days water only then a week of 2 shakes and fluid. Then onto puree now on soft food.

I'm struggling with eating meat so sticking with vegetable based meals as that sits better with me

I am on 7-8 tiny meals a day.

Big love to all on our epic journeys

Xxx

Yes we are all different, I was given a basic plan but barely any choice and then told I can start soft foods early I’m 3 weeks post op Monday.
we only had fluids for 1 day then it’s puréed for up to 4 weeks then soft foods 4-8 weeks then 8 weeks normal foods.
I’ve tried flaked salmon, cucumber thin without the skin, ham cut in tiny pieces, I seemed to have gone off eggs which I used to love.
crisp bread with reduced fat laughing cow triangles or with marmite or Avocado , I have protein juice as it’s easier to drink than water and helps me get my fluids in.
I wish you the best of luck.
we are on to our new life now!
there isn’t any support here just a 6 week check so before the. You are on your own except if you want to ask a question.
