So glad your home. Feeling better after eating for two days. Did a little waking outside this morning and returning back to feeling normal. Got the go ahead for purée food today. Kept scrambled eggs in so far. How are you feeling?

Surgery was first thing in the morning on 7/7. Discharged from the hospital the following morning. Overnight at the hospital wasn't bad, if only a little tedious. Made good progress on my Fluid intake while there.

Pain was minimal once home, topping out around a 4. liquid acetaminophen is all I've needed.

Visiting nurse stopped by on 7/9 to check my vitals and see how I was doing. Did three 10 minute walks outside, which was overachieving because there was more discomfort on the last walk and I woke up exhausted the following morning. Drank 51 ounces of fluids, including 8 ounces of Celebrate 4:1 Protein Shake

Removed the binder and took a very welcome shower before the VNA stopped by on Friday morning. She said that the swelling and inflammation around my incisions had subsided a lot from the day before. Also had first post-op bowel movement. That almost sent me running for the ER because I wasn't warned about how it was going to look. Doctor assured me that it was normal after spending a lot of the day in a mild state of panic. Consumed 53 ounces of fluids, including 16 ounces of Celebrate 4:1 shakes. Scaled back my activity to just two 10 minute walks outside. Did not put the binder back on as I didn't feel any added pain or discomfort from not wearing it.

Today? Well, pain is pretty much gone. Haven't taken any liquid acetaminophen yet today. Still feeling tired. Doctor has said to not do any exercise today and simply rest. Am supposed to drink 16 ounces of Celebrate 4:1 and 8 ounces of Premiere Protein today, on top of other fluids. The biggest complaint I have at the moment is how itchy my stomach is. A combination of the incisions healing and all of the body hair that was shaved off starting to grow back in.

Another VNA visit tomorrow and then 1st post-op followup with my doctor on Monday.

So far so good!

I also had bypass on July 6 and was supposed to be starting puréed foods on July 13. Unfortunately I had a bump in the road two days ago and did not eat anything (water only) for over 24 hours. After 24 hours with nothing, the only thing I could talk myself into trying was the cottage cheese from my puréed list. I had a couple tablespoons last night and it was heaven. I tried a couple tablespoons of Protein Shake this morning with nausea after 1 tablespoon, so I waited an hour and now I am eating 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese. I guess I am starting puréed early🤷‍♀️ Btw, pretty sure my “bump” in the road was dumping from too much Bone Broth at a time (about 4 oz). It was not a good time. Going to stick with 2 tablespoon portions for several more days and try Protein Shakes again in another day or two.

Hey everyone, so bad news. My surgery for july 14th was cancelled. Not sure when it will be scheduled again. I was so close. Im upset, but Im keeping in mind that I will eventually have my surgery. Im just trying to stay positive. Ill keep on with my diet. Not much more I can do at this time.

I'm sorry! I know how devastating that feels. I was cancelled one week before mine that was scheduled April 1st. I finally got a reschedule and had it done june 24th. hang in there. I know its frustrating. it will happen though. I just looked at it like more practice for the lifestyle change. and I found it actually helped a little and gave me a little more time just keep adjusting and working on the mental part. hope you get rescheduled soon.

Thank you, yes I cried a bit. not much. I know it'll eventually happen. I will keep up with the diet and maybe start incorporating some exercises into my routine.

I was devastated, believe me. But I am in Florida and it is crazy down here at the moment. I am trying not to be selfish, I know hospital beds are going to others with much more important agendas right now. Its a week by week things the scheduler told me so lets hope I can get rescheduled in a few weeks!

I got my COVID-19 test yesterday... I’m terrified that it will come up positive and ruin everything. It’s not just a matter of having to wait longer; I have a lot going on in my life this year and a pretty narrow window to get the surgery. Somehow, everything came together for me to get the surgery during this window, and it feels too good to be true because nothing in my life ever works out the way it’s supposed to.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
