Im scared of gaining weight through this crisis

I have 10 pounds to go but now instead of losing I'm watching my weight stall and slowly creep up even. I don't feel that it's safe to go to the gym as my gym is crowded. I'm staying home, working from home and not doing my usual running around. I am much more sedentary now. There is much less access to fresh foods, store shelves are empty and we had to stock up on pasta, rice and canned food as a backup. Not to mention I seem to be eating my feelings more and more.

Im really scared that my weight will continue to creep up! I know what everyone will say, do yoga on YouTube and stop stress eating. OK, easier said than done! :) This is a really scary time and I'm already so prone to anxiety but it's just been out of control. Being isolated is depressing and when you get depressed it's really hard to be disciplined and make a lot of effort. Is anyone in the same boat?

It gets harder by the day, my dear, though I know you're most likely right with what you're saying. I'm going back to work on Thursday. I work at the biggest hospital in the area. We already have

Ummmmm, I am really scared that COVID-9 is more dangerous and deadly than people might think right now.

You are very welcome! I have become quite distant to this site due to the fact people tend to not try to understand and just make judgment's.

We all need to have each other’s backs.

Dont worry , I'm just now breaking a month long plateau. What I'm doing that helps is walking outside around the neighborhood twice a day to get into shape . And I check my weight twice a day as well but I'm not crazy over the scale.

I've upped my walking to twice a day as well. The dogs absolutely love me now. But checking your weight twice a day? If that's what works for you ok, but watch out for the mind games we can start to play with ourselves.

Hahaha - you say that like it's a bad thing! Ha! :) #queenofpreandpostpoopieville

Still trying to get my mind around the TP hoarding. This is not an illness that gives people the uncontrollable runs.

Not for anything but I have found my appetite return precisely at the time when stress eating is prevalent. I’m still eating well but do feel more hunger...not sure if it is head hunger or real.

I won’t eat chips nor sweets but I have had wine which I was not partaking in prior to covid19.

I also work in healthcare (non clinical) so I can’t go escape it.

Be well all!

Ah yes, at least the dogs are happy. Ours is, too. ? ?

Preach!

Toilet paper still out of stock this morning!

People also seemed to be more tensed today than yesterday. There were also more people at the grocery store this morning, though it wasn't really crowded. More like the usual amount of people you would expect at a store this size. I guess this is because of the weekend coming up. Or there are some news I haven't heard of so far.

Yes, it stinks but it's just the way it is for us.

I am in the same boat. I have been diagnosed with Major Depression Disorder with reoccurring episodes. It's a lifelong struggle for me. I also share a fear of gaining weight during this time. My gym is closed and it's hard for me to go on walks for longer than 15 minutes due to chronic back pain. I am just doing the best I can and trying to stay away from carbs.

I also have depression and chronic back pain. My doctor convinced me to try Pilates for the back pain. If that's something you might want to try, there are a lot of free Zoom classes right now.

Hi and yes I completely feel you! I have been grazing and my weight is climbing by the day! I am going to try online discussion groups for my anxiety tied to the uncertainty at this time rather than self soothe with food. As an emotional eater I seem to try to feel
Better with food and end up feeling worse. You’re not alone! Come back often and get your fears out- maybe write in a notebook just to get them out of your mind so you can focus on taking healthy care of yourself. That is what I am doing and it seems to be working. Stay strong and focus! You can do this!

Your hashtag is soooo on point there!

Hi everyone, My name is Robyn I had lap band surgery over 10 years ago and have been gaining the last 4 or so. I'm trying to not get so mental about all that is going on in the world right now. My man and I are BOTH hoe ALL day together...yikes HELP PLEASE..HA We do have a gym set up down stairs . I feel Like I need to workout harder ...that's my mind speaking ..my body is like..ahhh NO!.. You all seem very positive and I NEED that right now... Thanks so much

We are all in this together! I am afraid of gaining during all of this also! My husband is also home until at least April 30th, so I understand what you are going through lol!

It's definitely a luxury to have enough space (hopefully a garden) and alone time these days.

I posted in another thread that I am taking this time to challenge myself. I started c25k yesterday and want to run a 5k in the future. After trying to motivate my sales staff I realized I needed it too so I’m challenging myself to come out of this quarantine in better shape! Between trying to run, using a kettlebell, dumbbells, a couple of bands and back to the basics, ie pushups, lunges, walking planks, etc, I’m just trying to stay active. #quarantineweightlosschallenge ?

I agree turn off the news - control the things you can control and don’t worry about the things you can’t control. This virus will take its course and nothing anyone can do about it and in reality you only have a 3% chance of hospitalization. 97% of the population will be fine!
