☀Happy Sunday Morning ☀

Its raining and cloudy in my part of the world but you know the new adage

May showers bring June flowers 😂

B-Side Question:

Is there a point in the day/week/month when you are truly hungrier?

(For me its the week before my cycle)

There’s no pattern to it and I’m menopausal so can’t blame my period but there are random days I just feel ravenous. Of course all I do is amp up the Water but it doesn’t make sense to me why it happens. Great google topic 😊

Day 18 - make physical contact. I'm going to be clinging to my hubs when I get released from hospital today. We have a small flight of stairs that leads to our front door and in my head right now it looks like Everest.

Surgery went well and pain is mostly under control. Ice Water and Jello are my current bffs. Did a lap around the ward and now feel as weak as a kitten.

B-side - salon all the way. I have never been good at doing my nails and if I try it becomes an exercise in frustration. I don't go as often as I used to, but it always makes me feel great.

Had a fun weekend out of town visiting friends and family. I did have less activity the past 2 days and I feel kind of guilty about it. I was pretty good with calories, under 900, which was my self appointed “vacation calories “. I did eat more carbs than I usually do.

I’m headed back to the gym in the morning.

#16. Physical contact was such a bonus, I got to hold a 4 week old baby.

#17. No time for a leisurely bath today, maybe I’ll go to bed early and make time for that tonight.

B side hungry question. No rhyme or reason, I simply have days where I feel like I’m white knuckling it, other days I’m not hungry at all.

Oh it's a Monday. Anyway, I took a shower yesterday....I usually take one every morning. There wasn't anything especially relaxing about it though. 15 push ups were also completed. For today, well, my to do list is endless. I did go through my clothes over the weekend and disposed of those that weren't keepers this morning. I made to trips to the local nurseries so I have plants to plant. I'm hoping to work on that after work today. But it was funny because I found my to do list that I made last year and everything still needs to get done project wise...other things are things that are ongoing like chores...well, that's it for me today.

Day 19 - baths aren't my thing... never really have been. And showering right now is a workout. Someday down the road I'll enjoy them again.

Day 20 - to do list: drink Water, rest, walk a bit, cuddle my babies when they get home this afternoon from their grandparents (haven't seen them since Wednesday). Totally doable.

Good morning you all!

One of my goals was to be in the 230's by the end of the month. This morning I weighed in @ 238.6.

I will take it.

This month has been Junk Free. I am only 6 weeks out - so to be expected.

I have been eating out a bit more recently and have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been. ( I have stuck to protein/veg all sauces on the side and baked/steamed/stewed).

I have walked around 5 miles a day on average.

Running wise...I did start from couch to 5k have completed about 3 run/walks - boy oh boy are they tougher than I remember. Also it is hot as heck in NC atm.

I think I may have to sign up for a gym this week or next after I check with my pa about weight lifting.

I'm pretty excited to sign up for the gym actually and have been waiting to be cleared for weights.

Happy Tuesday y'all.

#20 & 21. I don’t have a to do list and if I did it would never be finished. I don’t really journal other than my diet.

Gym yesterday for cardio and core, today is the cardio strength class. For the first time I’m dreading it, it really kicked my arse last week! I’m not giving up even though I would love to today.

B side. I’m not really into self help books, I did enjoy reading Rising Strong by Brene Brown a few years ago.

May 19th 20th & 21st:

Journaling isn't my thing either... I've done it a few times when working out something specific, but long term? Not for me.

B-side: I'm a novel girl all the way, with the occasional biography thrown in for good measure. Btw, I totally don't get the Marie Condo thing. I read it a few years ago and actually threw the book across the room when she started talking about socks feeling sad because they were rolled instead of folded. She had a few valid points, but a little over the top for me.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
