I, too, go on phases with food. Sometimes it lasts for months and even years lol. I am on a natto (fermented beans) kick right now. I had it with nori (dried seasoned seaweed), 28g kimchi, and 11g sweet potato airpopped crackers.

Total 158 calories, 6g fat, 15g carb, 9g Protein. 20230623_154802.jpg Screenshot_20230623_160654_MyFitnessPal.jpg

I tried natto, didn’t care for it. Maybe it was the brand or flavor I tried but jeez I wasn’t a fan.

You guys can have these random food pictures. Only ended up eating half the sandwich meal. Ate all of the other meals. The vegan pepperoni was pretty good.

pretty hungry this AM so whipped up a "breakfast cheese quesadilla" with a side of a bit of greek yogurt for dipping. I usually have sour cream for quesadilla dipping, but u know what? greek yogurt does the same (if not better!) job :)

401 calories for it all.

ok, so i felt for something else (despite the fact that i still had leftover quesadillas), so i made another attempt at the butter tarts. this one is 1/4 of a regular one (not a maple one like the one i tried to eat the other day) so i figured i wouldn't find it too sweet?!?

WRONG.

took a nibble if this one (vs a lick like the other time) and i felt a pavlovian shudder in my chest.

Mr. ended up eating it.

why do i keep trying? because they are delicious and SOMETIMES, they don't immediately turn me off. sigh.

this 1/4 butter tart would've been about 100 cals, but im logging 33 cals only for the nibble taste.

Yesterday’s food (only the things I took pics of but there were other foods throughout the day)

Parfait w/peach, blueberries and strawberries & Salmon pate w/ crackers, baby lettuce and baby carrots (ate about half)

Total calories for the day was about 1600. I never track total calories anymore but I often spot check certain meals to see how much Protein I’m getting.

It was wild to see that I tracked about 60g protein but over 100g carbs. I’m not limiting carbs by any means but the Fiber content was well below 28g so I know I could have made better choices (I’m look at you muffins and biscotti 😂)

seeing your meal often reminds me how i really should be making better food choices these days.

i feel like my daily salads from yesteryear have become a thing of the past. which is weird because i love salads.

i blame laziness.

im gonna aim to fix myself a nice fresh tasting salad tonite!

scrolling thru my pics and forgot a i took pic of last night's dinner.

BFF invited a bunch us over to critique her 7 hr long home smoked beef ribs (A++ btw).

ate all the meat off one bone (and i mean ALL, i was two fisting that sucker to clean it off completely!); a bite of the garlic bread (too hard for my liking); and about 3/4 of my side roquefort and pear salad (BFF is a chef supreme). and all the red wine in my glass before eating.

MFP says 649 calories for everything shown, but i really don't think the beef rib was worth 330 cals. but whatevs.

its worth noting the meal another friend of mine is also captured in the background. as you can see its very similar to my portions...only diff is she has a couple tbsp of baked Beans as well. she ate all if hers plus a brownie for dessert. she is one of those never-overweight, naturally slim people who doesn't particularly watch WHAT she eats, just doesn't eat much (compared to others) cuz she just doesn't eat much....but she will eat ANYTHING, in smaller amounts.

no one ever comments/commented on how little she eats, vs the ridiculous amounts of questions and words i would get in the immediate months post wls. but now, as its been quite a while now since i've been eating just like her, and no one even bats an eyelash anymore. thank goodness!

I tried Snakehead fish for the first time for dinner the other day. I just put the frozen fish in the air fryer with salt and pepper. I topped it with a vinegar black bean sauce before eating it. It was really good. It is not a snake but a fish. It has a very firm texture, not fishy at all. I read that if it wasn't for the name it would be more popular since it has a similar profile to tilapia. I can see that. The name is cringey to me lol.

75 calories for fish, 22 calories for sauce. 20230620_002535.jpg

Don’t worry. If it becomes more popular the name will just be changed to serpentino or something. 😂

No! Please don’t make better choices because of peer pressure. Lol. Make bad choices for me, I want to live vicariously through everyone on this thread. My food choices are like this because I generally don’t like food anymore 🤡

I've never heard of snakehead fish, but if I ever see it, I'll give it a try! I used to hate seafood, but now I love it and really enjoy trying different types of fish. One of my favorite easy meals is fish coated with spice rub and cooked in the air fryer, with a side salad and/or steamed veggies.

My airfryer changed my life lol and made eating healthier a zillion times easier cause I really like crispy, crunchy... Etc. vs poached or steamed. I almost always airfry my fish too.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
