It is called guanciale and it is delicious. It is pretty much the opposite of Canadian bacon! Canadian bacon is super lean smoked/cured pork tenderloin.

Yes ... not at all similar to Canadian bacon. The difference between guanciale and pork jowl bacon is that guanciale isn't smoked, while the bacon is.

My first attempt at pizza using a cauliflower crust was a success....I ate half of it and was super full. Will cut back on the toppings next time....used ground beef, canadian bacon, baby bella mushrooms, black olives, homemade pizza sauce and mixed Italian cheeses. Whole thing was 540 Calories, 44 grams Protein, 10.4 net carbs and 36 grams fat.

Thank you, I get all my knowledge from the food Network and did not know the smoking difference!

Why jowl bacon vs. regular? The fat percentage or something else? I've never even heard of pork jowl bacon before!

I love hearing how other people cook! I've never used pepper vinegar, either!

For me, it is more of a substitute for ham hocks, rather than bacon. I've never cooked it and eaten it on it's own. I have only used it to add flavor to dishes.

It has two benefits over bacon & ham hocks. It's sooo cheap. I don't remember the exact price, but well under $2/lb, maybe even like $1.29?? So that's a benefit over bacon. It's also possible to portion out into small portions, and doesn't take up as much room in a pot as a ham hock.

These are the ones I got, they are at Natural Grocers if you have that store there or you can order online. They are kept frozen.

... and get something greenish, disgusting looking but good tasting food. Guess I'll eat this with banana and kiwi fruit.

Last night's dinner: Shrimp Ceviche #yum

140 cals, 29g Protein, 8 net carbs. ATE IT ALL. Would have gone for seconds, but didn't want to risk it.

Can we drink caffeine tea? Some say yes and others say no.

Before in another life I would have said sure why not? It's just a little tea/coffee But now I'm adamant on following your team's instructions. If it's included/excluded, there's likely a beneficial reason that they personally know of despite debate

💜Good Luck💜

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
