I have eaten all kind of stuff, chew like crazy. I ate in several restaurants, but mostly just the Protein, a bit of waste of food to be honest. I am almost 1 month out. To be honest I though it would be harder to keep a social life, but I am always able to find something in the menus that are some what healthy.

how did you get a sleeve at your starting weight ??

Sleeve is based on BMI. I had a 37 BMI at 199 lbs, which is obese for a person who is 5’2. My surgery weight was 192.4. If you are above a 35 then it is normal. The surgery adjust to the body. It helps remove 50-70 % of your excess weight.
I know I got asked why I was doing it a lot but it was necessary in my eyes.

Good luck!!!! Your doing good by reading blog. Helpful to prepare. My advice, follow what the nutritionist says. I see them every stage. So far 4 times since surgery June 1. I see them July 10 for next stage. I don’t go behind the stage. If they say ok in 8 weeks, I only worry about what I can eat till I see them. I ask enough questions to get me through till the next time.

So right now I’m good on yougurt, scambled eggs, hamaburger, meat ball

dont think about further then you can go. So baby steps.

My office offers groups, but I like the blog cause it’s instant,

they also offer free nutrition for a year. Anytime. I like that

had an ESG done on June 25th, down 12 lbs from 255 to 243. Protein is the hardest thing at this moment besides everyone eating around me, felt super fatigued today... Hopefully will get my energy back

I eat yogurt pretty much every morning. Protein Shakes go straight through me, if ya catch my drift 😂🙈 so those are not my fave...

Cottage cheese is good, but I'm tired of it. I'm tired of Soups, plus they really aren't that much Protein and kind of feel pointless. I didn't think I could have red meat, but meatballs sound bomb!!! Yum

I WISH I could have eggs. I love eggs. But they get stuck and I get that intense pressure in my chest whenever I try to eat them. Same goes for tuna. Maybe it will get better after my endoscopy and dilation.

I go in for IV fluids tomorrow... 🙄

How long did it take everyone for the super tight inner stitch to finally dissolve or pop?! My doc said it could happen anytime, but I'm miserable!!! I just want it to happen so bad so I can get some relief!! I'm so over being in pain! And I want to sleep on my side again dang it. Right now, it is way too painful.

i was in ER last Thursday. Dehydration and naseaus

my doc wasn’t sure if it was withdrawal from lexapro or that I had oatmeal and it bothered me.

You and i our similar. Im 5'7 as well. Surgery weight 212 now 197, surgery 6/21. Carry the majority of weight in Stomach and size L bra. We are boarderline for this surgery in terms of what most people think but I 100% think i made the right decision! I had issues waiting until i was really hungry and then eating too much, not a snacker. I've been heavy since 19 and could never keep the weight off after losing it.

Lala70 don’t let these opinions of people that don’t know your life get to you. I was scared the whole time before I met the other people having surgery with me because I just knew they were gonna look at me like “wtf is she doing here” but once I met them I felt better because I thought they don’t know me and I don’t know them so even if they judge me it doesn’t matter because they don’t know my story. I’m a low BMI patient and to some maybe “not that much over weight” but those of us on this board aren’t here for a weight competition we are here for support to help one another. So for future reference to anyone who has an opinion for someone who had surgery that maybe you don’t think fits the normal profile just remember this is huge life change and nobody who hadn’t been on the walk of life with a struggle would choose this lightly..... so maybe we may not be walking the same path as you but it doesn’t make our path any less.

Anyways back to the light side! Excited to have you on the sleeved side Lala70. Hope to stick together through the good results... can’t wait to start working out so I don’t lose my booty feels like all 20 lbs have been straight from my ass... figures huh!

It’s ok, I’m just super hyper sensitive to comments like that. But yes! I heard comments like that too! And I wasn’t even the one having one. It would just be made about random people or girls on Instagram. So i knew not to say anything when my surgery came around.

But yes, I requested to have an image of my stomach removal. So a nurse took an image of it.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
