Surgery Was on 10/03, down 25.6 lbs. Weight loss slowed this week, but I am losing inches. I feel great. Red meat doesn't sit well with me nor does cheating by trying to sample bad choices, so yep...I stopped that nonsense. I finally got a small hunger feeling this week, but no cravings. I didn't see a difference, but others notice. So, I took a photo today and put it side by side with a before VSG pic and it is insane to see the face behind the extra lbs. How are you all doing? #wecandoit

how do I upload pics on my desktop or app?

At the bottom of the response panel (right here on your computer or app), there is a paper clip symbol which invites you to upload pictures or files. Use your mouse or finger to activate it then upload the appropriate pic/pix from your gallery.

I have attached a pic to show you.

Surgery was 10/16, down 16 lbs from surgery date. Feeling great! First day back at work, and found out that my slacks I wore pre-surgery are not possible to fit in now. Have to go shopping tonight for a few pair to hold me over for a few weeks. It's good to be able to see and feel the difference, even in a short time. Almost 70lbs down from my highest weight.

May I suggest, in the interests of your wallet (and its fast depletion), that you buy one snug-fitting pair of slacks for now and a set of braces/suspenders?

Much smarter when you're likely dropping two to five pounds [i.e. 1 to 2.2 kilograms] per week.

Tomorrow is my surgery day!!!! Hospital called today and said I need to drink a Clear Fast nutrition drink at 3am and be at the hospital at 6am for surgery at 8. After having it postponed for two weeks and being a bag full of jitters, I feel oddly calm and ready to go!!! I can’t wait to start this journey!! Happy Halloween everybody

wow. You are taking in 1200 calories a day at 3 weeks????? My doctor encourages 400-600 calories a day and I get it only 300 to 400 so far and I am 19 days post. Maybe the calories are too high.

Shoot I'm at 6 weeks and I'm proud when I hit 800

I had my sleeve done on Mon (10/23), and things have been going very well. The day of surgery was rough and i had A LOT of nausea after surgery. The nausea went away after about 12 hours and everything has been rather easy since. I have had no issues with nausea, gas or pain since coming home, I have not vomited once since the day of surgery, have not needed any pain meds since leaving the hospital, and seem to have nearly as much energy as I did before the sleeve.

I initially gained about 8 pounds immediately after surgery (as expected), but as of this morning I am down 8 pounds. I feel fortunate, because I have not had any issues tolerating anything yet, and have been able to get all of my Water and nutrients in with ease. I hope things continue to be this easy.

I had my sleeve on 10/26. Came home 5 pounds over because of IV saline. Now one pound less than when I went in. I am getting roughly 300-400 calories on a good day. I use the Baritastic App, which I really like to help me track my Proteins, etc. I got for the first time since surgery more than 60 g Protein today, whew hew! (Though my dietitian says I need about 100g since I am 6'2"). But she and I knew I wouldn't be at 100 for awhile.

Does anyone else's stomach/intestines make a crap load of noise now?

Some things I can definitely feel my new stomach (too big sips of Water, Jell-O), but other things like chicken broth I seem to be able to get more down. Anyone else having this happen?

My recovery has been pretty easy so far. I'm trying to get my surgeon to let me go back to work...

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
