Hello all

Back from a lovely week in Cornwall with superb weather. I felt comfortable being on the beach and being in a bikini although didn't take my t-shirt top off as I didn't want to show my horrible all loose skin boobs and tops of my thighs! Ohh how I do hope I can get funding to have the top half done as they are awful and I felt very concious of them!

Apart from that though have come home to weigh and have lost another 3.5 lbs. So aware that I am struggling to eat though and to get the liquids down. Have had some good days and very down days where just felt very stressed.

Interesting Wannabe that you have found it to be linked to stress. I was sat very quietly the other evening and started to have heart palpitations and eventually they slowed down but it did frighten me a little. Has this all been just a little too quick????? Had my blood results back as well for my Thyroid and it was 2.5 whohc is within the norm but so lost as I'm not sure whether I should resume taking the eds or not. Decided to take them every other day and wondering f this is what is causing me to feel unwell.

Other interesting point (maybe not for anyone else so sorry) but I noticed when I went into the Tropical Biome at the Eden Project last year I sweated buckets. This year I walked around in trousers that had a warm layer underneath and a t-shirt and everyone else was sweating but I was cool as a cucumber and as soon as I came out had to put my warmer layers on as I felt so cold. Is this normal????/

Anyway, 8 lbs to go and just 1.5 lbs until 100 lb loss. Wow this was my 3rd mini target and I can't quite believe that I am so near. The last 6 pounds I shall be wishing off as I need to make a Dr's appointment and see my GP in order to get the referral.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and comfortable with where they are at. Take care and look after yourselves.

Cx

8lbs to go and I feel great in a definate size 12 as I picked up a pair of trousers I bought whilst in Cornwall and they fitted perfectly.

Evening All

Hope everyone is well, I am delighted I have finally hit 3 and half stone loss at weekend. Can't believe how different my life is since this time last year. 18 months ago I weighed almost 18 stone, smoked 30 a day and struggled to walk up the road....... Now I have started hillwalking and have just bagged my first Corbett...... WOO HOO. Not smoked since January 2010 and am now walking for 4-5 hours each day at weekends and every night I trek up the hill with my two dogs

Anyone who is considering having it done - it aint easy but it does help.

My restriction has been a bit weird this week, not able to eat at all some days and then other days I can manage some fish and mash or Soup etc - taking it a day at a time now and not beating myself up if I have a foody day

I appear to have lost my ticker and no idea how to fix it

Kerry xx

Well done you, that's fabulous!

Have you looked at My Profile - Edit my Profile for your Signature and your ticker should be there with the code to get to www.tickerfactory.com Did you make a note of your ticker factory code when you set it up? Good luck as love to see the updates for everyone.

Take care

Hello everyone!

I'm off to Belgium on Monday, so excited!

Just wondering what you did in terms of pre op diet?

In the information received from Freddy it just says to not eat fatty food for 2 weeks before surgery.

On some other forums i see most people have to follow strict liver shrinking diets such as milk and yogurt diet.

I thought I would give slim fast a go but have only managed to stick to it for one day so far :(

Now I'm actually starting to panic that they might not be able to do it, or worse, i might not be able to stick to the rules after.

I really need to get my head round this and quick.

I'm pretty sure its my husband doing the corrupting, I seem to cope quite well but then I get those sweet words whispered in my ear.... Chinese/ kebab/ pizza and its like I'm possessed, the thoughts go round and round in my head and I cant stop thinking about food and end up giving in.

I'm not sure if its the thought that I'm not going to be able to have it after surgery. I know i will be able to now and then, but just in smaller quantities.

So today I'm starting Cambridge diet in a last ditch attempt to do some good before the op.

One other problem I'm facing, Ive got a wedding to go to on sat, I'm supposed to be going to a buffet ( all you can eat) Breakfast in the morning with hubby and the groom, then a 3 course meal after the wedding with champers, Ive got prawn cocktail for starter then hog roast followed by strawberries and cream. Then in the evening there is a finger buffet  I'm trying to come up with an excuse not to go for breakfast and I can avoid the buffet like the plague at night but I'm not sure about the lunch, I know they have spent ever such a lot of money per head and I would feel awful not eating it. If I have a little pick at each course and try and sneek some on hubby's plate, will it do much damage to the liver shrinkage? Ive heard that Freddy advises you to relax and go out for a meal the night you get to Belgium so surly they cant be that worried...right?

Hi pet, listen dont worrry about it. I was the same as you, I ate really low fat for two weeks before the op and lost seven lb's but when I got over there and met all the rest of the peeps having it done they were all on the beer and eating like they were never going to eat again!! Fred even told them to stuff cake in their ears up til 12 the night before but after that not even as much of a sip of Water can pass your lips. My advise would be to enjoy the last few days to the fullest and have a ball.. i would looking back now i wish i did!! I was wondering if anyone knows will Chris Duprez charge me for an unfill? I got my third fill two weeks ago and havent been able to eat solids since, Iv lost ten lb's which is brilliant but I cant go like this. all that will stay down is chocolate and I am SICK of it by now!!! Never thought I'd see the day!! I am going to meet him tomorrow, and was just wondering if I will have to fork out again..???

Hi hunnybe,

Thanks for the reply. I can breath a sigh of relief.

After 2 days on Cambridge I felt so rough and I was being a total b*tch, so ended up pretty much running to the chip shop.

The moment I put my fork down, shear horror struck. If I cant manage 2 weeks pre op, how am I going to cope after?

I'm just going to relax and enjoy my self, and then start a new chapter in my life and not worry, just stick to good band foods, but have the odd treat and that will hopefully stop me feeling deprived then I won't binge.

Can you tell me how much fills are because I've seen people say they are charged anything from £70-100 unless some people were meaning euro as I know there are some people from Ireland on here.

Thanks very much

Jo x

I have another question :D hopefully someone can help me

Is there a supermarket or shop near the hotel because im sure hubbys not going to want to go out for dinner on his own, so i thought maybe there might be some where we could by a few bits so he could have something in the room, bread or pies, i dunno.

Also what are the prices like in the resturant, just incase he does want to ventre out. Just wondering so i can plan how many euro to change up, dont want to run out of money  Are there any other resturants or cafes near by?

Thanks

Hi JoJo, Dont forget to take mugs with you the cups in the room are useless, there is a small town within easy walking distance (with your back to the hotel look left and you will see an arched railway bridge go under that into town) there is kebab shop and cafes. But you can join him in the hotel restaurant and just dont order for youself. Or there is quite a good restaurant within the clinic/hospital which he can use.

Prices are a bit more than uk but not really silly, also you can stock up on yogs, Water and things for yourself from the hosp resaurant before you leave . Take teabags, slimasoup, and mugs also powder sachet of drinking choc, and nurofen melts (sucking pain relief. Also if you find the pain killers that are given to you too fizzy put them in warm Water and they soon go clear

It will feel like youve been kicked around the room the first 2 days but each day there is an improvement, and very soon you'll be ok, take care, good luck love mmmxxx

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
