  1. Hi all, i was banded on the 15th of feb and I am getting my first fill tomorrow, the 7th of April..... WOOOHOOOO!! Thank god. I lost 5lbs on my pre-op, and I have only lost 11 lb's in total. I have no restriction whatsoever, and I am even worrying that this was another waste of time. I was very good to start with and stuck to my liquids and mushies etc, but once I began to eat solids i found I could eat as much of whatever I wanted and I was so HUNGRY the last few weeks.. To read what is on here is very encouraging, I am hoping I will succeed this time, for good. Quick question, does anyone know how many cc's is in a heliogast evolution band? I am hoping 15.. fingers crossed!
  2. Hi everyone, im getting banded on the 15th of Feb in Belgium by Dr Christiaan De Bruyne and I am soooooo nervous but really excited. I just have to do a low fat diet two weeks before the surgery to shrink my liver (no fats oils butters etc) but I think I am going to do a week on shakes before it just to be safe. I have 80lbs to lose, my bmi is 35... would love to stay in touch with people going through the same thing!!
  3. Hi there, thanks so much for your message! I am going to follow your blog too, justgilly@gmail.com if you want to get in touch ok? Hope you are doing ok hun xx cant wait to have a good chat!
  4. Hi everyone, i am having a band fitted in January and I am looking on it as a life changing step to transform every area of my life. I have started a blog you can find at http://byebyefatgirlhellolapbandqueen.blogspot.com/ and If any of you have blogs could you let me know so I can follow you? I am getting banded in Belgium and will have very little after care here in Ireland I am relying on internet support to get me through. i would love to hear from any of you! xxx
  5. Hi guys, I am only starting my journey and its a long long road to success. I am getting banded by Dr Chris De Bruyne in Belgium in January 2011. Follow my Journey at http://byebyefatgirlhellolapbandqueen.blogspot.com/2010/12/worst-moments.html and I would appreciate any tips and advice any of you could give. Much appreciated xxx
  6. Hey hun, how are you getting on now? I am considering going to Dr Chris, very nervous about the surgery etc.. total chicken altogether :unsure:How did you find it?
  7. Hi pet, I am in the very same position as you are, I am 30, I have a bmi of 33 and have no quality of life due to my weight. I really honestly know how you feel. I recently suffered a miscarraige and even though i dont think it was related to my weight I cant be so sure. I also have prolapsed disks in my back and im nearly crippled because of them. Are you in Ireland? I am still in the reaearch stage and going through a whirlwind of emotions, it would be great to have a buddy to go through it with and support each other. Hope to hear from you
  8. Hi Claire, I am thinking about getting banded by Dr Chris, but I have had a slight set back when my Dr has told me I will end up bigger than ever if i get it. Im so upset, i was all set to go. you dont need to hear that when this seems to be your last hope.. I have heard great things about him and when i am getting it done I will definitely be going to him. Just hope i grow a pair soon and just do it
  9. For a pre op bandster this is great motivation. thank you and well done xx
  10. Hi to both of you and thank you for your replies! Its so nice to be able to come on here and talk to people going through the same emotions. I am the same, wondering if i will be able to manage my nutrition and not kill myself by eating too much by mistake or vomiting and rupturing my stomach or something.. i have all these fears in my head. I really do want the weight off, i have a bmi of 33 and I cannot face another diet.. it seems like my only option. That and i am a bit scared of the surgery.. i just dont do pain well at all
  11. Thank you for all your replys, TracyNYC you are so sweet thank you! I didnt consider the operation to be major surgery, as so many of you sailed through it and I can see that from this site. I am sick of the weight and want it gone for good, maybe my doubts are just down to a lack of support from my family.. I really dont want to go through all that procedure and expense and regret it! I dont know what is really holding me back as I am normally such an impulsive person (maybe thats why I am in this position in the first place?!!) but I have to go through everything in my head. I am currently suffering prolapsed disks in my back and they are very bad considering my age, and my weight is a huge factor in this so there is more than just vanity at stake here. If I am getting it done i will be going to Belgium and flying home the day after, have any of you flown directly after the operation and how did you find it? Sorry for all the questions, but you know they do say if you want to know something ask the experts, so i am
  12. Hi guys, I am 90% decided to get banded, I have the money, iv picked my surgeon, but i still have reservations and I think its just the physical act of having surgery and the unknown. I know I can make the adjustments to my diet and really want to do it, but Im scared of the surgery. Was anyone in so much pain that they regret having it done and how long before you were back on your feet properly? How much realistically can you eat and do you fell deprived at all? Any advice? Would love to hear from you xxx
  13. Wow. Thanks for that reply Yonk, You see I had my mind made up, I was set to go! Im getting the money put into my bank account on Tuesday morning and I had my Surgeon picked. My sister who is traveling with me has started annoying me asking me questions and just being annoying and now this Dr says I'l basically ruin myself if I get it done... and now my heads all over the place and I wish i didnt tell anyone and just went on my own to do it. It's ok for them to have high morals where this is concerned but they are both tiny and have never had a weight problem. Im sick of being treated like a second class citizen by people exactly like them and when I eventually make up my mind to put an end to my misery for good, it's these people standing in my way!!! Im soo mad.. i dont know what to do now. How did you get on with your op Honk? I was just putting it down to being minor surgery, like getting your gall bladder out (which i had done and sailed through) but when you say its major surgery it scared me again.. i must sound so weak
  14. Im thinking of going for the 9th of November maybe if I can get it, my sisters going with me. We were going to upgrade to the Crowne Plaza in the middle of Brussels as it looks lovely.. any thoughts on this from any of you? I am very nervous but kind of dont believe this could actually be happening at the same time:lol:I have to do it on the quiet too as my Medical Officer at work dosent approve of me getting this done and I could be sacked for it :tt2:Sorry but it's MY LIFE AND I WANT IT BACK :tt2:I have heard great things about Dr Chris but I would love a travel buddy so we could support each other.. hope to hear from some of you !
  15. Hi there, does anyone know what the aftercare is like for Dr Chris in Ireland after you have the surgery and what happens if you have an emergency and need medical attention? I know Frederik is here the first Thursday of every month but what happens in between? I am booking it directly with Frederik and not going through any agencies as they are just ROBBERS so I was wondering can any of you tell me what the back up plan is for us Irish Bandster's
