If this is how I feel only a few weeks into the process, I really feel like this is going to be hugely successful for me. I am feeling so excited and ready.

Wow! I think you're doing great - laying down habits now that will help in the future. I'm in there with you!!

Wow most you you've have gotten thier WLS date. I wont get my date until after I'm done with workshop. My office sends in their paperwork to the insurance the second day of my workshop. Hoping for an early June Date.

I'm exactly where you are! I have about 3 weeks left in the insurance-required diet, then they'll submit for approval, THEN they'll give me a date. HOPING for early June....

Meeting on the 27th of this month with my surgeon. Fingers are crossed for a early June sleeve. My sister had hers in February and it has changed her life. So anxious and excited.

I've also been lurking. I'm Rachel, 37 yr old in KY. I have a husband and 2 boys (4&6) who are wild and crazy. My surgeon won't even see you until you're done with all of your pre requisites and he's 99% sure you'll be approved. I finally get to see them next Tuesday and then they'll submit me for approval. I'm hoping for May/June surgery date.

I have my pulmonary test this Wednesday. Anyone have that done yet? What can I expect?

I did that. It's not terrible just annoying cause you are breathing in a machine that feels like a snorkel in your mouth. I drooled a lot but I guess they are used to it . Lol just a lot of deep breathing

SMiranda if you go to YouTube you can see exactly what a pulmonary function test and that is what I pretty much did. I did get to use the nebulizer and repeat a few of the breathing exercises. It was awkward but it is one step closer

Going through my insurance required six month supervised diet. Very anxious for time to pass to get my surgery. I finish in May, so am optimistically looking at June for surgery. Anyone else around my stage? Isn't the wait killing you????

Hello @seahawkgirl. I think my date will be in June. I have my final pre-op with surgeon on May 19. Then they say it is usually 3 weeks after that. Glad to see there are June sleeves out there.

I'm reluctant to post because I'm afraid I'll jinx myself but I met with my surgeon on Tuesday and my date is set for June 17th. He said we could do it this month but June works best for me so I'll be a little more patient and hopefully lose some more weight. The office is going to submit to the insurance now (which is why I'm so nervous, I'm afraid I'll get rejected).

About me, I'm a dental hygienist and have heavy all my life but in the last ten years I weight has been increasing steadily. My PCP has wanted me to do this surgery but I wasn't ready. Last summer I reached my highest weight and i knew I had to do something. Best of Luck

I've been impatient too, my surgery is scheduled fur June 8 but then decided actually that's a good thing, it means I have 7 more weeks to get my body and head ready for this journey. So right now I'm trying to cleanse my pallet of craving all the junk, it's working so far, there more I eat healthy the less I crave junk. And actually lost 4 lbs last week! I'm calling it my pre-preop diet! :) and I know it's only going to help me (Mentally more than anything) in the long run.

@Seahawkgirl & @mclorrie Thanks for sharing the post about the psych eval. So glad you are both done with them. I have been pushing that off until last, but I am gathering my courage..lol.. I am also half way and getting really pumped.

@remzel I know you had to be really dissapointed, but we are right here with you. My BMI is just over 40 too, so I have been trying to focus on one new behavior modification per month as a goal. My first one was to stop drinking all carbonated drinks. It was hard for me, but I am proud that I have not had one since December. The second month I started making sure I was drinking 60 oz of Water a day. This has been harder for me that I realized.. In the coming months I want to stop drinking during meals, and drop caffeine (coffee is a true love for me ) so that all the changes will not hit at once. I had read several veteran posts here that said that one of the things they would have done different is start the behavior mods sooner, so I am going to try my best to do that. I really, really want this..

Thank you @kidzmom this is a great idea. I have stopped the carbonated drinks. But every time I am eating and grab my large glass if tea, I seem to choke and really worried about not drinking while eating. We have had this habit all of our lives and I need to read posts like yours that give me great ideas. I have my psych evaluation on April 29. I'm scared about that too. But so happy to hear everyone's comment. I'm So scared that the psychologist will say, you haven't ever stuck to a diet before so why would you stick with it now. Bam, denied. So I will keep reading. My final visit with the surgeon is May 19 and they say approximately 3 weeks for surgery. So I will be a June Sleever. Anyone from the greater Phoenix area?

@@butterfly56 Isn't this forum great? And, Kudo's to @@Seahawkgirl for starting this string. :) It is now a habit for me and even the family knows that I don't drink anything carbonated.

Last week I started replacing Breakfast and lunch with a shake. I have found out pretty quickly that the amount of Protein in a shake really makes a difference in how fast I am hungry again. I am pretty hungry by the time I get home from work, and I eat dinner with the family. But this change alone should help me shed the 10 pounds I want to loose and give me a good shake demo at the same time. Last week I tried all flavors of Muscle Milk (regular) and loved them all. I set them in the freezer to get super cold and they are great. I did try the Muscle 100 and didn't like it as well as the others. It has 5g of carbs where the regulars have 8g (I think). Post op I may have to choose something with higher protein, so I have picked up Premier Protein chocolate from Sam's to try next week.

I have reduced my caffeine a good bit, but plan to cut it out completely in the next 4 weeks. I will miss my morning coffee (only 1 cup at this point) and my tea, but it has to go. You can see a post on here from Mclorrie about the half caf which is what I am switching over to.

My Psyc visit is next week and I am nervous too. I will let you know how it goes. Good luck to you as well.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
