Hi everyone! I barely made the cutoff for this thread. Got sleeved on the 30th. I was discharged 2 days post op, but bc I was given the option by my doctor to stay another night and I decided that might be best just to ensure, in my mind at least, that everything was fine. I'm easing off the liquid Tylenol with codeine and trying to use it only at night. I am/was a tummy & side sleeper, so that has been my biggest issue, both in terms of frustration and pain. Thankfully it is getting easier. I haven't been tracking my Fluid intake too heavily but will do so today. I was pumped with so many fluids during my stay, that I haven't had much thirst and my urine is on track (TMI?). The lack of hunger is amazing to me. Not going to lie though, the head hunger has tripped me up a couple of times. I'm also trying really hard not to jump on the scale until my 1st post-op visit on the 8th-we shall see how long that lasts :-)

One question-as a severe seasonal allergy sufferer, I'm taking liquid Allegra everyday. Thankfully, it's keeping most symptoms at bay. However that occasional sneeze and nose blowing is so painful. I found out the hard way NOT to hold in a sneeze-that was the most painful thing during the entire process so far. Any tips on how to make it less painful to sneeze?

The best thing I have found with my band surgeries is to take a page from cardiac patients get a small pillow and hold it to your chest as tight as as you can when sneezing or coughing and it helps with the muscle pain, not an on but it helps.

The sneezing and coughing pain on me was gone within a week.

Hello there! I am 4 weeks out today. I'm allowed to eat pretty much whatever I want at this point, as long as I chew it really well. I tried to eat some carne asad, though, and it just would not go down. So I have to stay away from really dry things. My HUGE frustration is this ridiculous stall. I lost 12 pounds the first week.... and I haven't lost anything since. My energy is decent, though. I walk, walk, walk. I eat maybe 800 calories a day and get in all my Protein. So I am having a really hard time understanding the stall.

Oh, and I wasn't hungry until this week. Now all of a sudden at 3-4 hours I get hungry. Thankfully it doesn't take much to make me full.

VSGLiz, I feel your pain. I was sleeved on 09/10. I lost 25lbs in a blink of an eye...for the past 2 weeks, NOTHING! so frustrating. I know there is the 3 week stall, but i think my stall is going to last 3 weeks! its insane!! Have you talked to your surgon about it? Im almost afraid to ask mine, I don't want him to think i'm sitting around eating chocolate all day or something, but if I don't get out of this stall, i'll go crazy!

I was sleeved on 9/15 & have lost 12 lbs as well. I'm also in a stall this week. I'm trying not to get too frustrated about it, but I am ready for the scale numbers to get moving downward. Staying off the scale is so hard though. I'm sure things will get moving next week for us.

I was sleeved on the 15th as well...I weighed myself today and have dropped 15.6 lbs since surgery...with my liquid diet prior to surgery i have a total of 35.6...I too was hoping for more of a loss after surgery, but it hasn't even been a month....our bodies are in complete shock and I see it as the slower we lose the longer it stays off...AND... or skin has time to shrink! I will gladly take a loss over a gain any day....we didn't gain this weight over night we will not lose it over night either!

Hello everyone, my name is Bernie and I am post op sleeve.I had surgery on the 18th of September and I am loving every day of it, I feel that I have a second chance. Since the surgery I have lost over 25 lbs and I walk at least an hour a day. I feel better everyday, just can't wait to go back to work. But I won't lie I am scared to go back, I am not eating that much and when I go back how will eating work. Can I get some advice and types on what to do so that I can use my tool wisely and not hurt myself with going out to fast food restaurants. Also I need support buddies to talk to please let me know if you are interested. Well hope everyone has a great night.

I was sleeved on the 15th...I made chicken and tuna salad and this is what i bring to work with me. I also bring a shake just incase I don't have time to eat.... you will be fine!

I was sleeved on 9/17 this last week has been so frustrating. I am in week 3 and eating soft liquids, yougurt, scrambled eggs mashed up. Still drinking my protien drinks. I am stuck on the same weight. Does anyone have ideas how to get over a plateau? I am going nuts trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks frustrated in maple valley, wa

Mr. Dodds, if you read back, everyone stalls at week 3. It works itself out - just keep following the rules!!!

Secrets, I hope you are doing better :)

I am soooo regretting this now. I had to beg to be discharged from the hospital today, have not been able to have a BM since Saturday, and I cannot keep taking in fluids because everything is backed up to my chest. I am also burping and belching constantly with no relief. If I do not "GO" soon, I fear either dehydration or an explosion somewhere along my surgical route.

Those that are constipated, are you taking pain meds? Pain meds have a tendency to back you up (yet another reason I don't take them).

Upon discharge, my instructions were to take Colace if I became constipated.

Have you called your doctor?

Keepingmysecrets I'm not a doctor so definitely talk to them first but I had a little bit of coffee one morning. I had not gone in over 5 days and I was taking my colace twice a day with no relief but after I had those few sips of coffee I went! And did that for a couple days and I've been regular ever since. So much so I had the runs and had to stop the colace. Maybe not something you want to do but coffee isn't fattening and I added a little sugar free vanilla Creamer to it but it helped me! Just a thought!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
