Surgery date

Is September 16

Hi Lucy,

I"m having surgery on the 16th as well. I'm not supposed to start my diet until the 2nd but I decided to start today. This is definitely no fun. I'm so hungry right now. :( We have to keep pushing through. It will all be worth it in the end.

Keep it up. :)

Sharon

I don't know if this is true for everyone, but I can't even finish a whole shake at once since my surgery. Those hunger pangs are gone! It's amazing. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, just hang on ;-) you can do it!!

Hey everyone, just returned from the supermarket. I bought everything I need to start my 10 day liquid diet on September 1st. For breakfast: chocolate Protein Shake with a banana (blended together). Morning snack plain yogurt. Lunch: chicken veggie Soup (blended to make it smooth). Snack: pudding. Dinner: same as lunch. Night snack pudding. That's it! I drink Water with a little bit of Crystal light. I'm happy I got my diet approved because so far I really like eating everything I'm going to have for the next 10 days. ????

Shelly 79 hang in there. It's funny when you are preparing and going thru your psych visit, nutition, and all the others in your head you know the day will eventually come but once you get the call that the date is set reality starts to set in. I think about all the thousands of dollars spent on the clothes I have in my closet that will be donated. I also think about the unknown of what my body will become as I head down this road. The surgery does not scare me. I am sure there will be some pain . Life after surgery is my worry. But when I think about the healthier side of what my life will become I smile and all the other worries go away. My clothes will be donated to the Women's shelter in Atlanta, some will go to the consignment stores where I hope to make a little money to buy the new clothes I will need and my weight center has a clothes closet where you can trade the clothes you can no longer fit for those you can. This journey is scary the fear of the unknown. What's wonderful is finding other's you can share your thoughts with , find support and support others which is what I love about this blog/site. Good luck and we'll wishes to everyone.

Ok so, today is the day. My 10 day liquid diet starts today. I'm looking forward to it because I've prepared myself and looked at all the wonderful progress everyone is making here and I'm ready to be part of it.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
