My surgeon was just arrested!

Recommended Posts

I clicked on the article and started reading, "A witch doctor was arrested and booked..." Got my attention until I realized it said Wichita!

OMG! This is wild! And I can imagine it adding to the pre-op jitters which we all experience. I don't know whether this helps or not, but I had never been an overnight patient in a hospital before and I'm 52. It was all so much better than I thought it would be. You will be taken care of by professionals and it's all over so quickly anyway and then you're recovering from laparoscopic surgery which is pretty great compared to other kinds if surgery. I detest going to the dentist and I compared it to that -- and I've only had one root canal. Eeek. I think I'd rather get another band!

So you compared to going to the dentist. I've had three open stomach surgeries, but I'm still SO nervous about getting my sleeve. Thanks for the post, I just want it to be over. But I guess we all do. Blessings.

Under the influence... geeze. And yet another reason I get squeamish when people say "my doctor said I could drink"...yeah, prob because he is an alcoholic him/herself.

WHAT.!?! If your doctor gives you permission to have a drink he/she is probably an alcoholic? Are you kidding?

i am a former chemical dependency counselor and i can tell you LOTS of medical professionals, including doctors have drug and/or alcohol problems. LOTS. i worked in a program for medical people, cops and firefighters. doctors were the worst in terms of denial and relapse, esp surgeons. hopefully he will get the help he needs. a doctor in buffalo NY hit and killed a young woman skateboarding when drunk. he left her to die by the side of the road.

Wow he is Hot! Lol but his name is pronounced House so hes just following in the footsteps of his television namesake. Lol

I think anyone can make a mistake. It takes so few drinks to be legally impaired. However i agree with someone else who said his mind is going to be occupied with thoughts of these issues and I wouldnt want him as my surgeon right now. Boy toy maybe. Surgeon no.

I also live in Wichita but I'm going to Kansas City for my surgery. I won't elaborate with why I say this but I wouldn't let any of the surgeons in that group touch me. Frankly, I'm not surprised this happened. I have seen his patients have a lot of complications post op. It's been worth the 8-10 trips to KC to go where I feel safe. Wishing you the best with whatever your decision is.

I am a criminal defense attorney. I can tell you that if this guy hasn't had a load of DUI's at this point, then he is probably is not a drunk and fine on the job. He made a poor choice for sure, but I certainly hope it doesn't ruin his life or practice. Everyone makes mistakes, let him take responsibility for it and move on. I am sure he will have to answer to the licensing board and work it out with them. Best of luck, but I would not freak out about it.

I have to agree. If you saw the private lives of all your professionals, you'd probably be just as stunned. Bad day for him and he'll be ok and so will you. We all do stupid things, and I bet he wishes he could take this one back.

OK, so this is maybe the third stupidest thing I've read on this board.

Seriously?

Ouch guys, although I don't agree with the drinking thing we do need to remember to try to not be offensive. We all have our own experiences.

Seriously, my surgeon was booked for reckless driving and driving under the influence after crashing into a house. The news link is below, along with surveilance video of the crash.

I'm a pre-op patient awaiting insurance approval and now this happens. He just did my EGD last week!

At first I couldn't believe it, but now I'm fearful and angry. He does have 2 partners that will probably take me on as a patient, but I hope it doesn't delay my pending surgery.

That really sucks. I hope it doesn't derail your surgery in any way and one of his equally competent partners are able to follow through with your plan. I remember many years back when I learned that my psychiatrist had been abusing psychotropic meds (and maybe some other things) and died by reckless driving and running his car into a post. We sometimes think doctors are infallible, but they're people with shortcomings and addictions just like us, I guess.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
