Surgery date 6/23

At first I had a rough 1 1/2 weeks a lot of pain and I couldn't get my liquids and shakes in so felt extremely weak all the time. Went back to work this last Monday and as of today things are getting a lot better. The first week I kept asking myself what the hell did I do. But I since I started the soft mushy food stage things are getting better. Almost no pain...here and there when I twist wrong, but I'm back to my workout regimen and starting to run again. The outlook is great and the fact that I don't feel hungry every min and stress over what am I going to eat next has been a gift. But I agree there is a detox stage that everyone needs to go through. It didn't help that I also had my gallbladder out at the same time!

I was sleeved on 6/24. I am still having a lot of discomfort on my left side. I can hardly tie my sneaker without geing in unbearable pain. How long does this last?

I had pain on my left as well for a couple of weeks. But it wasn't unbearable. I think you should contact your doctor.

I had my sleeve 6/18 and I think the first 6-7 days at home were the hardest. I still don't feel100%

I will have a burst if energy in the morning but by 1:00 I'm ready to lay on the sofa. Give urself some kindness and don't exert urself. Even though this is laparoscopic surgery, it is major surgery. My doc said 21 days is the number he wanted for me. So mostly I've been recovering. Trying to get my Protein in. Take care of urself dear and let someone else cook and do the wash, and tie ur shoes. ????

STALL since post op day 9!!!!!!!!!!!! I call party foul!! Trying to keep my spirits up. Not cheating at all, still on fluids. What am I doing wrong??

I am currently in a 10 day stall with a surgery date of 6/16. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something happens for us soon because this is so discouraging.

I was sleeved 6/27. Seventh day of stall. It's so frustrating! Today, I am making sure I'm getting in all my fluids. I never get all my Protein grams for the day but I doubt that would cause a stall. I've only lost 12lbs.....I should be happy but I'm not! Lol

I have lost a small amount each day, now reaching 27 #s since June 17th surgery date. Getting Water in, and reaching about 1/2 Protein amounts required. Eating is going as prescribed, but 2oz is about max before I am full. Taking Vitamins and Calcium tabs. Just always tired. I try to walk every day at least 4000 steps broken down into 2 walks. By the time I get back home I am exhausted! So tired of being tired! Hope this gets better. I did reach one-derland yesterday, currently at 199.8. Not much joy in that when I have no energy to do much. I am getting B12 shots so maybe that will kick in soon and I can finally feel normal again.

New "problem", I have realized I need to buy more pots and pans- in smaller sizes! It's difficult to transition to cooking smaller amounts when you have been cooking for big eaters for so many years. I made a frittata for brunch today and had to make way too much because I don't have a small skillet with a lid. I have lots of large saucepans, skillets, etc., but very few high quality small ones. Since my freezer is rapidly filling with leftovers, I think I better start shopping! :)

Yup,, smaller pans and storage bowls! My leftovers are crazy and I can't bring myself to throw it out!

sleeved on June 25th

HW 234

I was on full liquids straight out of the hospital for a week. Then pureed foods for a week and now soft foods for a week. So far I've eaten an egg (which my stomach did not like), cottage cheese, fish, and soft veggies. I feel good but think I've not hit the stall that I see many of you mentioning.

My main goal with surgery is to get diabetes in remission...not there yet, but only on small doses of short acting insulin (was on Levemir, Victoza and Metformin) so I am really happy about that.

I was sleeved on June 18.

I was on milk, Water, and broth for two weeks. Then, two weeks on Protein shakes. I'm just starting Week Four--so I'm jumping into some cottage cheese and hummus. Sounds yummy!

I've lost 25#.

One problem: the 64oz. I've tried Water, Gatorade, and SF Kool-Aid. Has anyone tried anything else or any tricks? I struggle every single day with this.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
