Finally

Its been a vigorous few months of dr visits for medical clearance for bipass surgery. Finally reached the final leg of the road. Surgery scheduled for September 18, 2012. Nervous, excited. Concerned about the diet b4 the surgery. Worried about the diet after surgery. I've attended support groups n know what to expect, it still doesn't make it any easier. I have support, n i know it'll b ok.

We all went thru that nervous/scared stage. You will do fine, I was fortunate enough that I did not have to go on a diet before surgery, just the day before I had to eat light. As far as the diet after surgery . .. . believe me... you are not going to be worried about that, you don't feel like eating what so ever !!! and when you do get hungry weeks and weeks after surgery, you eat a few teaspoon full of food and are stuffed !!! At least that is the way I felt - good luck on your surgery !!

Congratulations on the surgery date. It is normal to be nervous, you will do great, just keep the faith. I have to say I was not real nervous at all I really needed the surgery and knew in my heart that out was going to go well. Keep us updated on how the surgery went and yes you will not feel like eating for a long while.

Today i start day 1 of my pre op diet. Its 9:58 am n I'm nervous n my anxiety in kicking in. Its only for 6 days then surgery is on 7th day.

Alright! Wishing you the best.

You will get through this, the first 3 days are you hardest as your body purges the carbs and the caffeine. Just don't sit with others when they eat or it could get ugly. :)

I am required to do a one week preop diet which I'm provided with a list of haves n have nots n the day before surgery only liquids. Every one is different. Its up to the surgeon as to what the patients diet should be

I am on day 7 of my 4 week liquid diet. I hgave to do 7 optifast supplements a day which can be a shake, bar or soup mix and match. I can have 1 cup of vegetables a day which are cucumbers any color bell pepper any color lettuce and celery I can also put red wine vinegar on the lettuce. I can have a unlimited amount of sugar free popsicles , 1 cup of sugar free jello, caffeine free diet pop or just diet pop if you drink anything with caffeine you have to replace it with water. I have to get in at least 64oz of liquidsa a day and the water that goes in my shakes and soups are included in that 64oz so is any sugar free decaffeinated beverage. the nutritionist also gave us tips on things we could do to make the taste of the soups and Shakes tast better and we can have sugar free mints and gum.
