Is Your Surgery Still A Secret?

Only 3 people know that I had Gastric Bypass in April. Is it still a secret for many of you? How did you decide to announce or not announce?

I just say I am on a strict diet or just ate if Ifind myself in certain situations.

Mine is definitely staying a secret. People here are judgemental assholes

I thought I would still be keeping it a secret but I tell people who ask. I've found myself more people than I ever thought I would. I agree people are judgemental asses but just as I'm not perfect NEITHER are they lol. I've been surprised at the support I've gotten and people are kind (to my face).

Surgery 7/25/12

my family knows and thats really all the people i want to know because even some of my family members told me im just lazy and to get off my ass and walk around the block (cus there skinny and dont know what its like). nice support right? but least i do have a few people who do support me!!

I tell everyone. What I was shocked by were the number of people that had someone close that has had it and even a few that had themselves. I could care less how judgemental people are, I did this for me not them. And well when u loose a ton of weight in a short time they will start to wonder.

Never kept mine a secret.

I told just about everyone I know I would say 99% were supportive

If people ask I tell them. Most figured it out anyway. My family was worried...not my immediate hubby and son but, my mom and brother. My sister had the surgery and lost a lot of weight...she's actually underweight now, even she says so. So they were worried I'd do the same thing. I told them that this was something I needed to do for myself regardless of anyone elses outcomes, experiences etc. Each journey is different yet similar in many ways. So they got the hint that this was my own journey. I know I have to take my vitamins, drink my water and get in my protein and I intend to do all of that as much as I can. :) They were fine after that. Well mom still asks me weekly if I'm doing ok, how I'm feeling and if I'm taking my vitamins but, that's a mom. Oh and yup I'm 48 and she still worries. ha ha :)

I never announced it on facebook or posted about it but my friends and family and many coworkers know.

Just a funny little warning (well maybe not that funny) but a friend at work didn't tell anyone but me and everyone thought he was anorexic or bullemic because of all the time in the bathroom when food gets stuck/dumping and rapid weight loss!

Before surgery i didnt tell anyone but my family. Now I tell anyone who asks me. I've had a couple people at work who just asked recently tell me they were afraid to ask because I was off work for six weeks and they thought I was really sick.
