  1. I didn't have a catheter or drain....I asked my surgeon and he said he only uses a drain in the rarest cases. Hope your surgery goes great!!
  2. Hang in there... It's completely normal. I remember feeling so sad for 2-3 weeks. 9 mos later, it's so much easier. No worries, you got this.
  3. RNY 6/20/12. 327 Last week. 221.6 This week. 220 Total Loss. 107 lb
  4. I'd recommend making some of the changes you will have to make after surgery. 1. Cut out carbs: this has been my biggest key to weight loss. If it has flour or sugar, don't eat it. 2. Increase protien: add a shake to your diet 3. Increase water: make sure you are getting 8 glasses or more a day. 4. Add some exercise. Even if it's just taking the stairs or parking in a space far from the door. You can do this! Good luck!
  5. I lost 87 in the first 6 mos. Now I'm 9 mos and I've lost 106. Started at 327
  6. RNY 6/20. 327 Last week. 222.8 This week. 221.6 -1.2 this week -105.4 total
  7. well I'm a lil late, since it's not Friday...but today I weighed in at 227. 100 lost since surgery! 327 RNY 6/20

  12. RNY 6/20/12. 327 Today 1/12/12 235.8 Total loss: 91.2
  13. I forgot to list the most important...protein! He recommends 65-90 per day.
  14. My dr recommends less than 50 carbs/day Less than 10 g of sugar per serving No caloric recommendation. He says he is more concerned w/ carbs than calories. I'm generally 800-1000 per day I think.
  15. 6/20 Surgery. 327 Last week. 244.8 This week. 242 Total Loss 85 lb
  16. I have heard the same thing, although it was explained to me that the 60% represents the average of where people land over time. You may lose 80% within the first year, but 3 years later....many people gain some and level out.
  17. I'm 5'10. I've lost 85 lbs since my surgery on June 20, 2012
  18. RNY 6/20. 327 Last week. 261.2 This week. 256.2 -5 this week -70.8 total
  19. I had it too...from about months 1-3. It was horrible, but is better now:)
  20. I think it depends on the surgeon. My doc doesn't want us eating any carbs or starches.
  21. I agree, avoid pasta and bread. Stay high on protien and low on carbs and you will be good:)
  22. Watch out for fat free products...they often have higher sugars/carbs. My doc put emphasis on the carb count, not so much on the fat count- and he doesn't allow any fruit- due to the sugar count:(
  23. I don't have my itemized bill in front of me but here's what I recall: Total bill: $41000 Blue Cross contracted rate: $11000 My portion : $2200 ( ins covers 80%, I pay 20%) Fee paid to Surgeon $1200 from insurance $ 240 from me Hope this helps!
