I'm 19 too !!!

I was in and out in two days. Very, very little pain, quick recovery, no complications, lost 117 lbs in eight months - best decision of my life and I'd do it again in a second.
According to a July 31, 2012 report from Healthgrades, the complication rate for U.S. RNY patients is 5.87%. They analyzed the number of procedures, procedure types, and complication rates from bariatric procedures performed at 478 hospitals in 19 states from 2008 to 2010. There were 201,821 bariatric surgeries performed over that three year period.
While I understand and respect the fact that folks are frightened by surgery and no responsible person can deny that there are risks, "a lot of stories of people getting moved to icu after the rny" and "alot of people have to get put on feeding tubes" are subjective statements that are not supported by facts from any number of very reputable sources. Based on the report cited above (and there are many others with very similar results), approximately one person in 20 has some complication. Did all of those folks wind up in ICU? Not likely. Did all of those folks require a feeding tube? Very doubtful.
There are risks. There are no guarantees. There simply are no absolutes. Do the research. Choose your sources very carefully - there is a lot of hype and utter nonsense out there. And then make your decision. More than 200,000 folks made the decision that the odds were overwhelmingly in their favor of having a successful, life changing surgery that was free of complications. I'm just one of them but I have to tell you, I love the new me.

Awww I am sorry! I have had my share of people (strangers usually) that have made similar comments since I carry so much of my wieght in my stomach. it hurts and is embarrasing for everyone, but how stupid of people to assume. Yay you are not going to have to deal with this again!

Heard that ALL the time! I carried all my weight in my mid section, I also used to buy plus size maternity cuz it fit better. One day my nephew came up and asked if I was pregnant, I responded No, he said "oh, my mom says you look like you are!" That same sister in law went shopping with me the other day when I had to track down a size 8 jean at one of their other stores! She has always been a petite size 5 -5'2" and cannot and will not ever understand!

Scenerios, Believe Me...Lol ~ I've Had 4 C~Sections '79★'80★83★86 With My 4th Incision Bursting Open After A Week And Once That Happens They Can't Close You Back Up...You Have To Heal From The Inside Out. Then Gall Bladder Out In '91 Many Years Later And Lbs Then Lapband Installed 2010 And Removed In '11 now I Just Had The Gastric Bypass 7★23★12. I Am A Woman Walking Around This Earth Who Is ONE BIG SCAR TISSUE!!!! Ha Ha Did I Get A Smile? Bottom Line Is That If I Made It Through All These ~ Anyone Can Go Through This Particular Procedure, Just Do What Your Dr. Says And Ask Questions And Get Answers (Very Important) :-) Please Don't Worry! Your feelings are all normal... but in the end it is totally worth it. I do not regret it what so ever and would do it again if I had to !!!! Hang in there, ask questions, do research and get your support,..... you will do fine - GOOD LUCK

I'm 52 and have been a truck driver for 35 years most people think I'm scary my wife says I'm a marshmallow. I was fine up till the day of surgery then started the what if game. 8 days after surgery I'm still here I have the best Doctor (ready for his name) not kidding -Dr Gandhi from Rochester,NY General Hospital.

SO I JUST FOUND OUT IM HAVING SURGERY AUGUST 15th IM SO SCARED, MY MIND'S TRYING TO TALK ME OUT OF IT. IM EXCITED BUT AM FILLED WITH ANXIETY IS THERE ANY THING I CAN DO TO HELP. & I KNOW YOUR SUCCESS STORYS WILL HELP ME TOO!!
