I am definitely feeling extremely emotional as well. I get very upset & cranky with everyone. It started yesterday whicch marked my one week since my surgery. I thought maybe I was going crazy :( it was my daughters 18th birthday & everyone went out to eat & I just felt so left out all because I had the surgery does not mean that I dont exist any more :( I could have went & took my protien shake with me but noone bothered to even ask. I think that is what hurt the most. :'(

What the hell. That hurt. Not cool at all. I'm so sorry cherbear. That is terrible but I hope you told them how you felt. You really should.

I was sleeved on the 17th. First week was rough but am doing well now. I am eating pureed and really soft, mushy foods.I went out and bought a baby food grinder and have ground up chicken, steak, egg, fish and green Beans. I have also had runny mashed potatoes. As long as I eat REALLY slow, I am doing fine. I have had two bouts of pretty bad acid reflux in the middle of the night. Both times I had eaten too late in the evening though so I am hoping that is the problem. I did not have reflux prior to surgery but did have a hernia that was repaired at the time of surgery. Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi all. I am 4 days out from surgery. I can't believe how much the discomfort improves day by day. Today, I actually forgot, for a moment, that I had just been in the hospital a few days ago!

Thank you for all the chat about gas pain. Do most of you mean gas pain in your stomach area or in your lower GI. I had not been warned about gas pain by my medical folks and I now think it is my most persistent remaining issue. Ahh, the wisdom of peers!

food Hint: The first food I was given in the hospital was beef consommé. It was the most delicious meal of my life! (Ok, true I hadn't eaten for two days so most anything would likely have been good!). Now I keep it in the house and prepare it as follows: 1/2C consommé my glass measuring cup. Microwave for about 30sec. Add one packet of Knox unflavored Gelatin and heat again as needed to dissolve the Gelatin. It gets thick but still tastes delicious (savory not sweet; what a relief after the sickeningly sweet Carnations Breakfast Essentials). In this little 1/2C is 11grams of tasty Protein that goes down easy and tastes yummy. Plus I count it as 4oz of liquid. Good stuff all around. I hope someone else out there enjoys it.

PS my early hunger may be getting better. I think I need better variety and more complex flavors in my diet. Please share your foods that "hit the spot" for you and your new sleeve!

I got sleeved on the 22nd and am finally feeling more like myself! So .. At 10 days post op I'm down 17 lbs which is fabulous. I haven't lost anything in the past 2-3 days which the dr says will happen (I think I will start weighing in once a week now). Incisions are healing nicely - even though my entire stomach has been itching like crazy for a week ! I have been eating lots of Soups and cottage cheese , Protein Shakes and have just ventured into really soft veggies and a little chicken. When I sit down to eat I feel hungry but soon realize I can't eat very much.. The dr says that's the mind tricks and since my body had just lost a lot of weight my brain is making me think of food a lot. Hmmm.. All in all everything good great so far .Still tired if I try to do too much in the day .

Ugh... At my first family outing since sleeved. It's so difficult with all the delicious smells of food in the air. Everyone thinks something is wrong because the girl that was always eating isn't eating. Really hard especially when some people don't know the surgery I had ... Stop asking me if I want this or that.... Of course I do but I am not able to right now.... Really tough... I am happy I have my husband here for support. Good luck to anyone who has to experience this. Be strong... And it's okay to cry but you know what... We did this for a better future... You should be proud of yourselves. I know I am (doesn't make it any less hard). :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
