Why don't you try powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored and stir it into your Soup? You get savory instead of sweet and 20 grams of Protein at the same time. I also eat the chicken flavor. There are ways to get around sweet.

My Dr put me on puree today at only one week out. I had 1egg and 1egg white with a little cheese together totaling 3oz. For lunch I had shrimp brown rice with a milk and broth sauce to blend it and for a snack I had greek yogurt 4oz. I have come to hate Protein Powder in just 2 days :-/. From what I can gather my Breakfast was around 19g Protein, my lunch was 12-15g of protein and the yogurt was 10g of protein totaling around 42 for the day without protein powder and I have yet to have dinner and an evening snack. I think I can get to 60 without any powder. I will however continue my Calcium, Iron and other Vitamins.< /p>

Just had my sleeve on Monday, July 26th. Feeling surprisingly good. My gut gurgle like crazy but nothing solid has come through. I am on a puréed diet for the next three weeks. I don't understand what is happening. I am so hungry! I thought the surgery suppressed hunger for months and months. I have been able to keep down every purée I have tried so far - dairy, Peanut Butter, chicken, tuna. I have been able to keep my Proteins near 60gm but they are not keeping me full. I could eat at any moment. I have no sense yet that I have been appetite reduced. Boo hoo. Anyone else have this issue? Any advice?

I'm the same way. I was sleeved on the 24th and I still cannot tell hunger pains from full pain. It's seems like I have hunger pains all the time. I jave a yogurt or a few bites of cottage cheese and i get this little pain so i stop. Also, i think i made the mistake if drinking right after i ate because i almost threw up. Anyone else ever expwrienxe that? I know I'm not getting my Water or Protein in though and today i started purée. Does anyone know if baby food would be ok? Some of it does have sugar but its way down there on the list of ingredients so I'm not sure? I am, however, down 20 lbs since last Thursday so I guess I'm doing something right?

Hi I had my gastric sleeve july 18th. The first 2 days were the worst for me with the gas pains. I am doing very well now & I am 15lbs down since friday when I came home from the hospital. It may be more then that but I forgot to weigh myself before just going in & my scale & the hospital scale is off by 7lbs. At home I weighed 321lbs when I came home but at the hospital I weighed 314lbs... I am able to get in my 3 protien shakes they told me to drink but I know I do not get in as much Water & other fluids as I should. Next week I start the pureed food & was wondering what did many of you eat during that stage? I am thinking baby food may be the easiest on my belly but would love any suggestions for all of you :)

Feeling the same way. Gotten a bit crafty with adding the unjury Unflavored Protein in Mashed Potatos and Refried Beans but still searching for something that makes me happy...struggling to get both food, Protein Shakes AND liquid...

I make a shake in the morning and use a scoop and a half of Protein I add 8 oz of almond milk and some ice and that is half my Protein for the day. I drink it over two hours or so.

It seems to set up the rest of the day and getting in protein easier. I also eat every four hours. After Breakfast that leave three meals to get 30 grams of protein in. So ten each.

BariWise had a strawberry kiwi flavored protein that is 15 grams and I will sip it over the course of the afternoon. Oh and the Syntax Latte is also good too to sip over time.

The ice tea syntax flavor was beyond gross. If anyone who reads this forum has any influence, instead of ice tea how about a Chai tea flavor? Because that would be awesome.

My nutritionist actually suggested baby food multiple times... Especially the meats.

Did anyone else get told to drink Boost Protein? My NUT wants me to drink 2 a day--to get in all my calories (800-1000/day)...but it's sickening sweet! And the first two ingredients are high fructose corn Syrup and SUGAR...each time I drink it I feel horrible and sick afterwards. I've also noticed the days I'm able to choke two down I do NOT lose, and the days I have 1 or none I drop weight. It seems like this is a really bad thing to have, so I was wondering if anyone else was told to drink this, or how everyone was getting all their calories in?

I'm supposed to be on liquid only until Wednesday (2 week post-op)...

Hello I was sleeved on July 17th. Clocked in at 370lbs on surgery day (30lbs lost pre-op) Went for my annual "lady" check up today and was at 349lbs. It's a bit much for me so I am trying to make sure I eat 3 meals a day and drink as much water/crystal light as possible (sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't). Feeling pretty good though. Definitely not getting my Fluid intake but I am already on soft foods and tolerating them very well. Toddler silverware and small plates have really helped me. I've also gotten used to chewing my food 50 million times before swallowing. My chief complaint is gas....but that has been since day one. I still taking the Cerafate but I'm almost out. Nurse told me I can take Gas X once I am out of the Cerafate. Not having any trouble with heartburn or reflux thank goodness. Had a nausea spell this morning but I think brushing my tongue triggered it. I was fine for the rest of the day. Making sure I am taking my Vitamins

Wow....no my doctor strongly warned me to stay away from anything that has a lot of sugar....forever. The first ingredients you should be looking for in the Protein shakes are whey protein isolate (not the whey concentrate) It's probably all the sugar content that is making you feel bad. You should not be consuming anything that is making you sick, I bought my Protein shake mix from my doc's office and it's called Bariatric Advantage. It's a little pricey but it is good. They have a website that you can order from. I would definitely stop drinking the Boost...sorry I can only imagine how you must feel. Get better.

My doctor said shakes like boost are off limits due to sugar and calories.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
