Things went really well. The worst part for me was the IV. I almost passed out. Once they got the right vein I was fine.

It's been 4 days and I'm doing good. I had to have a hiatal hernia repaired and that seems to be a source of most of my pain. But overall I'm doing really well. Happier when I get to see the scale move.

These gas pains in my chest are excruciating! It's making nauseous. I tried to get a hold of my doctor but he is closed on Friday? I really don't want to take any meds without his consent but I'm dying over here! And I've been walking a lot and it doesn't help :((

Hey there....have u tried Gas-x strips? You can take up to 8 a day and they do help!

I remember that feeling. And yes they are. I would drink Water and as the water was going down the gas came up. I think by Day 5 everything starts getting better. And each day is an improvement.

I am so glad I found this topic. I had my sleeve on the 28th, passed my leak test Friday morning and have been given the ok for 3 full days of Clear Liquids. Every time I drink anything so far it's only been water and apple juice I feel like I am swallowing nothing but air. I can feel it bubbling in me . Glad to see that this should pass in 5 days or so.

hey so Im 6 days post op and very confused. while i was in the hospital after my surgery i had no problems getting out of bed or coughing or doing anything really. I never had to ask for pain meds or anything. I had gas pains but that was about it... day 3 I left the hospital and ended up having uh sex that night, again no problem/pain what so ever and its like now the only way i know i had surgery is that it Takes me FOREVER to eat (drink) anything like tryig to drink a Protein Shake is a 2 hour event, and sometimes i have a really bad pain in my stomach which ive come to realize means that im hungry. I dont get it.. i mean Im very greatful ive had way less pain than most.. but im also afraid all of it is gonna catch up to me somehow.. Is any of this normal? I havent taken any pain meds since i was released.. im just waiting for the other shoe to drop.. i guess

That sounds so yummy!!! I made pot roast in the crock pot yesterday and puréed 2 ounces of meat with a potatoe and some peas with a couple of tbsp of Greek yogurt. Looked awful but omg did it taste good. I could only get in about an ounce but it was delish!!!

May I go off topic for a moment? I was sleeved 2-5-13. I was on full liquids when I got home, then 1 week later they had me come in for my 2 week appt. And I was put on soft foods. I've been through the dreaded stall since then! I watch what I eat and how much. Problems are cant get in 64 oz of liquid, n I am craving caffeine folders coffee. Is it bad to have a little bit every now and then? I guess my stall is subsiding cause I noticed the scale move 9lbs in the last 4-5 days. At my 2 week I was 307 today I am 290! I'm gonna be a slow loser I hear because of hypothyroidism. I just want a little coffe! Any advice Please!!!

I took someone elses advise and Ive been using a shot glass and sipping from that. I now know what kind of sips to take, so hopefully it wont hurt once it gets near my stomach.

Ive been using my heationg pad for my shoulders. I dont know if I slept wrong or if its gas. Ill try it n my stomach and see if that helps keep the pain away while I drink. Thank you

I tried the heating pad on my stomach last night after tossing and turnin, and wow its my new best friend. I wish I had one I could plug up in my car and take it with me. Thanks for the suggestion.

I can understand that. I have to keep reminding myself that this is temporary so that I dont start crying. Hang in there. This too shall pass.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
