Best wishes guys. Im getting sleeved on the 27th. Day 3 of liquid diet. I love this particular thread. It's nice to share these final moments before our life change with others who are in this very moment.

Nice. I agree. I'm.in day 5 of my liquid diet, and it's going well. I've had a bit of head hunger. Also working through different brands of Protein Shakes. Found one I love and one that is just nasty.

I'll have an updated list later tonight with the new entries.

I'm home, walking around, taking fluids well, no nausea, but plenty of pain and gas.

Sunshine - I keep forgetting that I've got to get the band out. My Dr doesn't seem to think there'll be a problem doing both procedures at the same time but I realise that the band might have caused a lot of damage.

I'm not too bothered about seeing my stomach as I work in the pathology lab  so am used to seeing all sorts. I was more concerned that my stomach would go to the lab and my co workers would know that I'd had this op. Luckily they don't send the removed stomach part routinely as it is healthy tissue.

this is kinda gross, but I was sleeved on monday and today is friday and i have not gone number 2 once! is that normal??

Um...depends. I was sleeved on the 6th. Pretty much didn't cross my mind for few days then figured it was Water in water out. Nope thats not the way it works. I didn't realize that till it was way too late. If things don't start to happen start with the Milk of Magnesia. I was given that advice in another thread yesterday.

All I'm sayin now is I have kissed that bottle!

Well let me forewarn you guys...I had surgery on the 7th. No bowel movements at all as of the 13th. Talked to the PA at my surgeons office and she told me, no you definitely are going to have to wake your bowels up. This is completely common after surgery. She told me to get some Milk of Magnesia (btw, hind site being what it is DO NOT get unflavored, it tastes like fish slime!) and to take one dose, wait a few hours, if nothing take a second. DO NOT DO THIS. Definitely don't take a full adult dose, I took half. Then I took one 6 hours later. It was an awesome feeling at the 6 1/2 hr mark, I'm not gonna lie. But after literally a 7 hr marathon back and forth to the bathroom with the runs, or should I just say the "waters", I have to warn you guys! Do the MOM, yes, just ONLY do it once and at a 1/2 dose!

Good luck guys! LOL

Got sleeved yesterday. I've been home for a couple hours. Don't have gas pains but I get dry heaves every time I try to drink. Did anyone experience this? Now that I'm off IV I'm worried about dehydration.

Hello from the U.K.

I was sleeved on the 1st of march. I'm doing ok but I do get hungry and suffer from acid reflux even though I'm on PPIs.

I was sleeved on March 8th. I had the dry heaves for about a day and a half. Everytime I drank a little too much it would start. But when I did dry heave I was able to burp out alot of the gas!

I had dry heaves a few times in the hospital, Lain. I was sleeved on wednesday. I came home & got very nauseous. Doc called me in some zofran & that helped a lot. I wouldn't worry about dehydration. I told the doc i was urinating a LOT, but i hadn't drank that much. He said they pretty much saturated me with liquids during surgery. They know the first few days will be difficult getting liquids down. As for Constipation, i have not had that problem at all. I do feel hungry, which surprised me. I didn't think i'd feel hunger, but dic says i haven't ate in 3 days, so that makes sense.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
