  6. I ditto the last 2 posts! I am also a patient of Dr. Umbach. Had my surgery 6.5 months ago. I thought he was a very skilled surgeon and would recommend him to others. And I have!
  7. I absolutely love the Quest Cashew & Coconut!!!!!!
  8. I also had my surgery by Dr Umbach on March 8, 2013. I live overseas so I don't have any contact with the office except via email. I thought Dr Umbach was a great surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. Actually, I have a few of my friends are having surgery with him soon.

  13. I am 4 mos out and I still have a hard time in the morning. I have decided to stick with a protien shake for breakfast. It still takes about 45 minutes to drink it all down.

  19. Yes, I was self pay also. I had a 2 week pre op diet of 2 shakes and 1 lean and green meal. My Dr. stressed that is was to shrink the liver. They actually lift the liver to reach the stomach.
  20. Just think...One day you will be one of them!!!
  21. I have a friend who was also self pay. Her total charge was $10,500 for the WLS. They then filed her insurance for the hernia repair and I do believe the ins paid about $3500.00. So, when all said and done her out of pocket was only $7000.00.

  23. I used Dr Thomas Umbach in Las Vegas. He was wonderful. Website address is www.blossombariatrics.com
  24. Also, make sure you are not eating too fast. And are you taking all of your vitamins??
  25. I was given Hydrocodone also. I didn't take anything after surgery...didn't need it!
  26. Make sure that you are drinking ALL of your fluids. I notice a big difference in my weight loss when I keep on track with fluids. I am also about 7 weeks out from surgery.

  28. I am 5 weeks out. I am still drinking a shake for breakfast because it is easier and I bring it to work. Otherwise I am eating pretty much what I want but only healthy stuff. I have had strawberries and did not have any problems with the seeds. I am limited to about 2-3 ounces at a time. In the beginning I really had to learn how to slow down and take small bites. I had a problem with taking that 1 bite too many, and then everything came right back up! Another great tool is the myfitnesspal.com to keep track of calories, protiens and carbs. I am limiting myself to 600 calories a day and I try to walk in the evenings for about 45 minutes. My Dr. did not have me on a pureed food stage. He just told me to chew everything really well. It does help to see what everyone else is doing.
