Hi! I was sleeved jan 10th. I planned on giving updates along the way, but didn't quite fill up to it. I had a adverse reaction to the scopolamine patch ( for nausea) I applied the evening before surgery. It made me have blurry vision for 2 days! I had to remove it after 1 day. For 2 days the nausea was unbelievable! Being an oncology nurse I know a few drugs that help with nausea and finally I had to coax my nurse into asking my Dr for the additional drug.......relief at last! .

I had a PCA for pain. I used it often the first day then was switched to oral pain meds on day 2. I must say however looking at that 15 cc cup of thick syrupy liquid pain med I had to get down while nauseous was not my best moment lol.

Every time I got up to use the restroom I went for a walk in the hall. I never went more than 3 hours without walking and I never experienced gas pains.

Loved having my robe and slippers!

I've been home for 2 days now and my biggest challenges are: I'm still a little light- headed when I first stand and walk around, my energy is really low, getting in about 1/3 of my protein ( dr says ok in the beginning not much protein wasting yet ), getting in 1/2 of my fluid intake ( time to really step it up).

I haven't taken any pain meds since first night I was home. I keep the abdominal binding on most of the day and that really helps ( especially when I cough since I caught a cold from my 2 year old ).

How is everyone else feeling?!

Hi, I'm new too. I'm actually sitting in my PCPs office to get medical clearance for surgery on 1/23/13 @ 2 pm. I'm so excited. I was nervous and I may get nervous as I get closer. I have been doing liquids for 4 days and I'm down 10 lbs. I'm so motivated by that. Good luck to us all!

Hi delta girl.. Good to hear you are feeling better. I was sleeved on 1/8 and I am feeling pretty good. Everything went pretty well. Finally able to get up and down without pain, which is nice. I am working on getting in more of my liquids in and I up to 2 protein shakes a day without feeling like it is too much. I see progress every day.

Delta girl....I wore one of those patches on my cruise and also had blurry vision! I finally learned after I returned home the medicine in the patch will dilate your eyes if you touch your eye after putting on the patch!! Duhhhhh.....now I know. Lol

I was sleeved on 8th - started purees today - yay! I don't see my bariatric surgeon for a month, but see my PCP (who is an internist and not bariatric) tomorrow. I have been doing laps around my house - walking that is - but don't know when I can be cleared to start walking down stairs and starting the treadmill. Does anyone know how much time you should give after surgery before a "real" exercise program? I am walking - but not to the extent I would call exercise - it is just "movement" at this point - often!

Also - anything else I should ask my PCP about? Driving? meds? Just want to make sure I'm covering what a normal post-op visit would entail.
