  1. I was having that issue and turns out I developed GERD. Try over the counter omeprazole. It worked for me and I finally felt better.
  2. I work at a bariatric center of excellence hospital and none of our doctors order this test. Instead you go home with a drain for six days.
  3. You could eat in the hospital??? I could only tolerate a medicine cup of liquid.
  4. I think an EGD or scope would be able to confirm your stomach size, but I would definitely go to another dr for this to be done. I doubt your doctor wants to admit he may have messed up. So sorry you are going through this...
  5. Incentive spirometer helped me!!! I had a low grade temp and couldn't take deep breaths.
  6. I was having big problems too. I talked to a fellow sleeved and she suggested one cup of coffee in the am.....it works! I was always a coffee drinker but was scared to try after my surgery. Give it a try!!
  7. You do seem to be able to eat a larger quantity of food. I have yet to eat more than a half a packet of instant oatmeal. I can tolerate 1/4 cup of food at a time. I was sleeved Jan 4. Seems like you should be able to have some type of recourse against your doc if you find out he didn't make your sleeve small enough. You didn't go through all of this for it not to work! I know you must feel so frustrated. Maybe others that have had a similar experience can offer some advice......
  8. I don't think Sarah came across as rude but obviously got defensive with all the not so friendly replies. She was asking a question because there is not a definitive or consistent answer. To be honest, I have wondered this same question in my head and am so glad I never asked on this forum. Wondering does not make me a "lush" and in fact I rarely drink but would I like to have a glass of wine on my wedding anniversary and not have to wonder if it so OK or safe...you bet. I was just floored at the responses.
  9. That is unusual. I just couldn't get fluids down really good until a week. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones?
  10. I am two weeks out and will admit to getting a tsp and just eat it by itself! Love the stuff!
  11. I hated them too until I finally made one I like. One scoop chocolate protein powder, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 cup skim milk, and 1 tsp peanut butter. Mix in a blender. Tastes sooooo good. I have to make myself not drink this too fast. Again, only one I like so far!
  12. What an experience! Sounds like you are on the mend now. I had the low grade fever also when I got home and severe pain with deep breaths. Turned out I had atalectasis which is very common after surgery. Doctor told me to take about 20 deep breaths per hour...deep as I could...to open up my lung. After 3 days I was fine. Maybe this could be your issue? Especially with undergoing anesthesia twice. I pray you continue to feel better every day.
  13. I'll share my experience. I never had GERD...never, until postop. I wasn't sure what was going on but I was miserable. My de. Put me on Prilosec and has relieved it completely. That is some good medicine..lol! Dr said to take for two months and then see how I do. Hopefully I'll be able to get off of it.
  14. Glad you are back, Texas! That is scary about the ER doctor...lol. Hope you feel better soon.
  15. I am 12 days post op and can eat 1/4 cup of soup or 1/4 cup beans but I can eat a whole sugar free jello. I have trouble getting all my liquids in but I keep trying. I've yet to finish a protein drink. I can't wait to be able to eat some fish or eggs. I just don't like the protein drinks too much.
  16. Delta girl....I wore one of those patches on my cruise and also had blurry vision! I finally learned after I returned home the medicine in the patch will dilate your eyes if you touch your eye after putting on the patch!! Duhhhhh.....now I know. Lol
  17. @Jcbailey...I also work at a hospital and as I was reading her symptoms, sepsis is the first diagnosis that came to my mind also. You just don't mess around with a postop infection...
