  1. Love the before and after pics Jeff!!!
  2. WAY TO GO Jeff!!!!! Super proud of you!!!!!!!!! You are an inspiration to all of us for sure!!! Keep up the great work and when you reach that pant size - you definitely need to do something crazy - like go skydiving or buy a new car - that is just so fantastic!!!!! IN the meantime, rejoice in reaching your goal - that is worth doing something for yourself right there!!! Congrats!!!!!!!
  3. I did it! 1XX!!!! whoop there it is!!!! I am getting a message as my reward for hitting this weight milestone!!! 2 more lbs to go, and I will officially be "just" obese instead of morbidly obese... I know you guys get it! I hope everyone is doing well - post so we can keep up with each other!
  4. first 5k DONE!!! I walked most of it (only jogging the first and last .1 miles) - but came in at 48 minutes!! Very proud!!! I can't wait until I can jog the whole thing.... that will probably be with another 50 lbs off - but hey - for my first 50 lbs gone - very excited to have accomplished this!!

Good luck! I'm 3 months post-op and have been very happy with the results - note that weight lose is slower than you will be expecting - and lifestyle changes are the key - but it is all worth it!! Best wishes as you approach your new journey!
  6. Happy 3 month sleeversary (yesterday)!! I hope everyone continues to do great! I saw my pcp yesterday for a blood work checkup (trying to get totally off of my cholesterol meds) - and I'm down 54 lbs from my top weight!!!! Yay me! I am feeling fantastic these days - it's a slow and steady weight loss, but I am so much healthier! I am walking 4 miles in an hour most days - I'm really moving it!! and I eat better than I ever have (healthy choices now). I have been able to find things that easily go down and stay down without making me full unfortunately, but my mind keeps me back on track, as I am truly trying to make this a lifestyle change. I was even on vacation last week and lost 2.5 lbs :-)!! I am off of ALL of my meds - high blood pressure, anxiety, sleeping pills, to name a few - and I've cut my cholesterol meds in half - still working to get totally off of it! Saturday, I'm walking in my first 5k in 6 years!!! and I'm 5.5 lbs away from hitting the 1XX mark!! Isn't it fantastic that we did this?!?! I would love to know how everyone else is doing at their 3 month mark - we are still in this together!!
  7. We are almost on the exact same path - pound for pound - you are doing great... wait... WE are doing great! soooooo close to that 1xx :-0!!!!!
  8. I tell people when they say - wow - you have really lost weight, or what have you been doing.... I tell them, "oh I've lost a few lbs doing what you are supposed to do - eating healthy and exercising more".... they usually say something like, "we all need to do that more" and then I move on and/or they move on
  9. I had my 2 month follow-up today... things are looking great - doctor said I'm a model patient and he said I am the essence of success with VSG! He was most impressed with my exercise routine, where I get in 12 - 15k steps a day and 3.5 miles of that are under 60 minutes sweating! He told me that most people are "just starting" their "real" exercise at this point in the game... so GO all of you that are exercising right now too :-)!! He likes my diet plan - except - I have to get more protein in with food (I'm pretty much all food now because that is the plan they have me on) - but I'm only getting between 40 - 60 and he wants me at 60 g at least per day. He told me it is so important to ;building the muscle and losing the fat. He also wants me to incorporate resistance training (no weights yet greater than 5 lbs on each arm/wrist) - but to start toning this body that is starting to emerge! Anyway - it was a great day and wanted to share with those that "get it"! Hope all is going well for all of the other fellow Jan. 8th peeps!
  10. Fantastic!!! You are doing amazing - way to go ... and what a GREAT feeling on that scale slide at the doc office - I can't wait to join you on that one!

yep - I hit mine about then - it may have been at 3 weeks - I promise it will pass - I know it is frustrating... I think it is your body's way of "catching up"... hang in there!
  12. Fantastic post and thank you for sharing.... I feel exactly the say you do (did) about sharing the information - and still haven't told more than a few (not even my parents). I can only imagine how liberating this must feel to put it out there. I admire your courage and maybe one day, I will follow your lead (and maybe use some of your words :-))!! Congrats on your surgery and congrats on your "coming out"!
  13. I just had to share a fabulous NSV... I saw a co-worker today that I hadn't seen in over a month or so....she said, "wow - you look fantastic - like 10 years younger" Yay me!!! It's funny, because I look in the mirror and see ALOT more wrinkles as I lose the fat in my face - but evidently that's not what others are seeing! It certainly boosted my confidence today and made me go for those 12k steps that I was going to put off today :-)!!!

  15. I'm able to eat anything I want in small quantities - and I eat raw veggies every day!... but I can say that I don't crave "salad"... so you go girl!

    Fab 40's shout out

hey former_vbg - I noticed you had your surgery in Denton, TX - that is my home town - what a small world - did you ever live there - or just have surgery there?

    January 2013 Sleevers?

If I eat more than a cup or so of food per meal (over a 20 - 30 minute timeframe), I feel nauseous too. Our stomachs can't handle much anymore - so maybe decrease the amount you are eating???
  18. I just say my NUT yesterday - I'm 2 months post op and really not counting anything... I'm doing like fiddleman and gmanbat with making sure I don't eat processed foods - I make my plate look "good" with fresh everything - fish, veggies, fruits and only whole grains - I don't do processed or pre-packed anymore. I was concerned that I wasn't counting my protein and therefore not getting enough, but it turns out, my NUT added everything up from what I documented for a few days, and I'm doing perfect! I'm just trying to make sure I change my lifestyle - and make it a natural thing (no counting, no thinking about it)... I measure things on my plate since I'm not supposed to have more than a cup of food per meal - but I really don't need to measure, my stomach tells me when I'm full (and for a change, I'm listening to it)!!

    Fitbit One

I am completely addicted to my fitbit - I have the fitbit zip and love it.... I may also upgrade to the flex and give the zip to my husband (mainly to get him moving now too) :-)!!! I have become so addicted to making sure I get over 10k steps that I actually get in 15k now - so I'm going to up my goals!! Love it!!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

I'm following your same weight loss path- yesterday was my 2 month and I had lost 29 lbs total (sw 247; 2month post op 218)... It sounds like we are all right on track.... I AM exercising - alot (sweaty 3.5 - 4 mile walk every day plus I make sure I am walking at least 10k steps a day), but don't get in my water like I should. I am also mainly eating "normal" foods - ie no shakes anymore. I talked to my NUT yesterday because I had been on a 2 weeks stall and she said I'm doing everything right - even my eating is correct (almost like a normal "diet" but alot smaller portions) - and stop looking at the scale now!! So I guess we are in the slow and steady wins the race category :-) Good luck on your PT!
  22. ok - something "bad" happened at work this morning which tipped me over the edge ... so... I had my good, long cry over my stall, over my work issue and over my autistic daughter in DC with her school with the approaching snow storm.... then I got my butt on the treadmill and walked 4.25 miles and I feel great!!! amazing what exercise will do for your mental well-being :-)
  23. ok - I weighed in - 2 month post op... I haven't weighed myself in 5 days because of my stall - and guess what???? I still haven't lost anything - 2 weeks - NADA!!! I'm seeing my nut next week, but I may email her now - soooo frustrating!!! Yesterday I even walked twice - for a total of 95 minutes, 7.44 miles, and over 16k steps - and 60 minutes of that was a real sweaty type of walk on the treadmill! I know I am losing inches (my underwear is even sagging now :-))... but I want that scale to MOVE!!!! I may have a good cry today - maybe I'll lose a pound of tears :-)... ok off of my pity party (sort of) and onto the treadmill.... and then I think I'm going back to my original post-op liquid diet for a couple of days to see if that helps!!! Happy 2 months y'all!!! I hope the rest of you are doing fantastic!!
  24. Jeff - one stinking pound :-)... that is soooo awesome though and so fast!!!!!! I have the fitbit zip - it has been great - but I saw they are coming out with the fitbit flex you wear around your wrist - it tracks a bit more than the zip... but for me getting started on the exercise bandwagon - I have loved the zip! What a great present to yourself for marking your onederland achievement!
