I'm on soft foods. I'm eating cottage cheese, Beans, eggs, tuna, and Protein Shakes. I am struggling to drink enough Water. I sip all day, but hardly make a dent.

What are you eating?

Well' date=' my friends I am back from the Super Storm Sandy Aftermath. I had no power, heat, Water, phone, cable or internet for a week. Got it all back yesterday TG! It was rough, with 4 kids at home. We had a generator for the fridge, lamps, and hot plate, and the dvd player, bit our well pump is hardwired and we had no water. Shlepping 10-20 gallons of water a day just to wash dishes and flush potties. Oh god.. I had two gigantic trees (40 and 60 foot spruces) fall on each of my properties. one on my garage, and one on my deck. Not near as bad as family in Jersey. My daughter was evacuated from her NYU housing, with no ability to go anywhere because of flooded train tracks. Things are slowly getting back to normal.

In the meantime, I have lost 23 pounds since my Oct 3 surgery, 43 pounds in all and My body is in Onederland!!!! 199 pounds today!!!

Still having issues with stopping before I am full. Made myself sick these past 2 days. I just love the taste of food and it is so hard to stop myself. I don't chew well enough either. I am having a problem with my gums bleeding, pretty sure its low Vitamin C. I am awful about remembering to take my Vitamins, especially after this mess. I am glad I am back, for some support and pushing to do the right thing.

My husband in front of half of the tree that fell on my deck.

Done Did It![/quote']

You have done well. So glad you and your family are happy and safe.

I am very frustrated this morning. I am 17 days post op. I am getting about 700-800 calories a day, getting 75 g of Protein, walking 1 hour a day and haven't lost a single ounce in 11 days! How is that even possible??? What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you could be hitting that dreaded 3 week stall, since you are almost 3 weeks out. I hit one at 4 weeks but it was my fault (bad eating choices). I'm joining a gym this week. And I'm going to up my calories to 700-800. I'm 5 weeks out, and according to my doctor, I'm not allowed to ever have over 1,000 calories.

What was your starting BMI? The reason I ask is the lower the starting BMI, the slower the weight loss (usually).

It was like 42 - not low. :) I am 5'7". Started at 302, lost 25 lbs pre-op, lost 10 more the first week after surgery and have been stuck since then. I just don't know what else to do.

I am so feeling you pain and frustration. I am very similar in stats. I was sleeved on 10/11 lost 12 lbs postop the 1st week and nothing else since then. I do see inches but zero lbs. My BMI is current 40, so I have eliminated that as a reason. If there really is no answer at least know you are not alone!!

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
