Well, the standard advice that surgeons give is to wait 1 year post-op. But i have to admit, I likes my wine... I've indulged and haven't had any difficulties. I would say the only thing I notice is if I have a week when I've had wine more often than not, my weight loss slows. So for that reason, i now only drink on special occasions, like my birthday. It's not worth it to me to sabotage my weight loss.
I would suggest you ask your surgeon what they think you should do because everyone is different. This is just my $0.02.

Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision letting everybody and their brother know because when i head back to work sometime next week they will be expecting some unbelievable immediate transformation and that is not going to happen! You are right about negativity. i have one friend that is adamant i should have just done a year of shakes and I would be fine. People just dont understand!
Most people are very supportive, however and I believe the larger your support group the better. If you are unable to share with the people around you, definitely share on here because everybody is pulling for you and is ecstatic about your weight loss!!!!

Unless, of course, your levels are REALLY low like mine are and you need the RX ones. Don't let it get to that point MALK5, just take them like your supposed to. I am now back on track and hopefully will start to feel the benefits soon.
Rootman, yes you pee them out and this and that. . . but just as a car, you need gas to make it run and the gas leaves the car just the same. . . the body, as I'm very sure you are aware, is a well tuned "creation" needing care, maintanence and fuel and if it passes through so be it, but it's needed to make it work properly.

Again I would just like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers. I am glad to have finally gotten the surgery aspect over with, although the journey is just beginning. For anyone with upcoming surgeries, I pray for equal or better results than I had for you.
I did have to stay in the hospital an additional day due to my inability to keep anything down. I was in a serious state of nausea which depressed the heck out of me. I got so scared like, "I know I am not going to have to go through this for the rest of my life! Did I make a horrible mistake? LORD JESUS!" However, my wonderful surgeon Dr. Lisa Dobruskin and the excellent nurses at RWJ Hospital in Hamilton, NJ came up with an awesome cocktail of meds which reduced the swelling in my stomach, placed a patch behind my left ear, and knock out that nausea. I have heard of ladies having morning sickness throughout their full term of pregnancy and now I so feel for them. Not being able to eat and vomitting up basically nothing is no joke. Even food commercials on TV I had to turn from because they totally turned me off, so I basically kept the TV off...nothing but food commercials LOL No wonder folks are struggling with their weight! LOL
I had other blessings however, like no pain, (until I vomitted), barum swallow test came out excellent, no leaks; and minimum gas pains. If it hadnt been for the nausea and incisions, I would have sworn I did not have surgery! LOL I am glad to be at my parents recouperating and relaxing. I am trying to get Jello down, liquids but that part is difficult...but I stay on it. I took a brief walk out today with my sister. I am feeling alot better and on a full road to recovery. I wish you well in your journey, but as stated earlier the eval is necessary for a reason. If you question one psych opinion get another and we all hope for the best in your situation. If the approval has to be delayed for your clearance then that is what is necessary. It does not have to be a permanent situation it could simply mean the timing is not right for the approval. If this was me, I would appreciate the professionals for what they are qualified and trained to do. I am sure that is not the response you are seeking but your health and safety is always first. Please keep us posted and I will keep you in prayer.

Passive dependent means that a person isn't self-reliant and that they depend on other people to take responsibility for their life.
In the hospital, are you going to have to go off your meds temporarily? I ask because in truth, meds don't cure you, they cure symptoms so perhaps that is where the psychologist is coming from. I wasn't on any meds but my surgeon requires everyone to come off of all medications while in the hospital up to almost two weeks after. Do you feel that you could go that long without your psychotropic medications if that happens to be the case with you?
Do you know which tests the psychologist gave you? Did you answer the questions honestly? Also, don't come down too hard on the psychologist. While they cannot prescribe medicine, there are things they are proficient at that psychiatrists aren't and vice versa. He has to give you his professional opinion.
I think that you should consider your other options like other posters have said but in the meantime, think about what it may mean to you if you undergo another psych evaluation and the results are similar.

I was also very fortunate to not have a long insurance wait. I think they tell everyone 2/3 weeks for a response but I have read alot of others in this forum getting their decision in a matter of days. My paperwork was submitted on July 26th and I was given my approval on July 31st. Unfortunately, I have to wait until October 11th to have my surgery because my surgeon is so awesome in with VSG procedures, the waiting list is 2 months out. I am patient and staying involved in the process. I wish you luck and definitely recommend PATIENCE!! This is a life changing experience for us all. I will also follow you along your journey...

RELIEF! I had mine for 7 years until it was removed in June....I dont miss cramping in my port area if I bend over too long or acid reflux i developed in year 6...
To me, my pain was worst when I had the band put in compared to revision surgery....but it could've been I was so happy to get the band out I wasn't phased by the pain....
