October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Recommended Posts

There is a cool iPad app called tminus that counts down the days. It is pretty cool and a reminder that I have to start cleaning up my diet soon. For some reason I've been binging a little like my mind knows the end is near. I've had a " last milkske". " last fried chicken". " last chocolate shake". The mind can be a terrible thing.

Put in tminus and t minus and no results?

Think finally the food funeral of mid summer is over. Felt horrible half of the time. Was an eye opener. Ready to embrace what is good and feels good before and after with food.

Hi all! So many October sleevers! I just turned 50 and my date is Oct. 2nd! Single with no kids but ready to make real changes to have the active life I want. Started at 299 and now down 17lbs. Just taking it one pound at a time. I don't get my pre-op diet until Sept 17th. So just chew, chew, chewing and chewing some more! The hardest thing for me is not drinking Water with my food. But, as it has already been posted here, one change at a time. I'm in it for the long haul! Congrats to all ~ Shelia

The countdown is making it really real! I'm starting to worry about this whole "new life" thing. I kinda like my life-I just want to be able to enjoy it more! I had 3 friends who had RNY and they all had to drastically change their lives in order to stay on track-all 3 changed jobs, 2 moved out of state, and one even got divorced. I hope I won't have those kind of "side effects" with VSG. Anybody else worried?

Hey I think I recognize you from the support fb page. When did you have your surgery? I'm super excited. Scared about the aftermath though. Do you get good pain meds and naseau meds in the hospital? I'm self pay so I'm nervous they will treat me different and just give me the basics since United Healthcare isn't footing any of the bill. That's probably stupid to think but it has crossed my mind. When did you go back to work? I'm hoping I can return the following Monday......

I was self pay as well- I was treated like royalty! I didn't have any nausea so I didn't get nausea meds... I was prescribed liquid loritab to use at home and never needed it. I've used it once since surgery and that was for menstral camps. I was very very bloated after surgery - that made it hard for me to sleep comfortably. Once I started walking- it was like magic- the air just started exiting! I felt so much better!

Hi! I'm an October Sleever. My surgery date is October 29th. I'm 43 yrs old, 44 on October 8th. I am 5'10 352lbs. I am both excited about my new journey and nervous. However, I've never been so sure of my decision to have this surgery. This surgery will be the best birthday gift of my life. I am so happy to have found this forum -- it's wonderful. By the way, I can't wait to take a picture of myself and not crop out my body! :-)

I think its like 3 of us now for that date!! love it and good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
