My surgery is in 8 hours. I am surprised that I actually feel very peaceful about it. I think I have asked all the questions and looked at the options/risks enough that I am confident that I am making the right choice for me. I am sitting at home wearing my hospital bracelets (had to get them early because they had to get blood ready just in case) and that makes it very real that I am a patient. I expected to be terrified, but at this point I am at peace. :)

Good luck! I wasn't nervous at all either. :) I actually fell asleep while waiting to go into surgery.

Well that sucked. Went in to the surgery--surgeon made 2 incisions--put camera in one and then slowly started inflating my abdomen.. Then my heart stopped. I as out for about a minute and they had to do chest compressions to get my heart started again. Surgeon decided that he should stop since this is an elective procedure. I saw a cardiologist in the hospital and went through tons of tests. My heart looks ok. They decided that it was just an unusual reaction to the gas and that I may have been too far under.

So--I am back home with my entire stomach--couple of incisions--very sore body and chest--and a mouth so dry from all the medication that I feel like it is stuffed with cotton. Not so successful. My nurse said that the surgeon "lost his mojo" and was nervous the entire rest of the day. They said that this is a known, but rare, possible complication especially in women.

Everyone signed off and my surgery is scheduled once again for July 30.

OH wow. so glad you are ok. Was this your first time being put to sleep? The issue is not unheard of, but yet it is very rare. I am so glad that your heart turned out to be in good shape. They may have to lessen the sedation for your next surgery. My mom is a rare case that has a hard time coming out of sedation, so she gets like half what they would normally give a person.

I wish you the very best of luck for your next go round on July 30th. I hope you can have your dream come true. Please keep us updated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
