  6. wishing you good luck and a quick recovery!
  7. @twic41 i believe that there isn't a "normal" and that everyone's body is different. that said, maybe you can go back to Protein shakes for a couple days to kind of kick-start the loss again. i'd definately schedule an appointment with the surgeon (not just the assistant) to discuss your options and make sure everything is okay.
  8. all of my tablet meds have to be crushed and my paperwork says that i'll be doing this for 1 year! crappy, but it's been almost 3 months and i'm more or less used to it. some meds taste horrible so i use a pill crusher and pour them onto a spoon. then i pour a little strong flavored Water (I like Propel's blueberry pomegranate and black cherry) onto the spoon and carefully swirl the meds so they get coated. then bottom's up! i do the same with my anti-acid that comes in a capsule -- i just open the caspule and pour in into the spoon. i'm still a clutz and spill meds or the water at least a couple times a week so maybe by the 1 year mark i'll be a pro. i still get strange looks if i have to do it in public, but i think most of them are reactions to the scrunched up face i make (still after 3 months!) because my anti-depression/anxiety med tastes AWFUL!
  9. yep, it's the fluids that they pump into you so you don't dehydrate. i was 13 pounds heavier the day after surgery and 8 pounds heavier on day 3 when i left the hospital. it took me a few days to lose it again.
  10. I had lost 58 pounds at my 6 week mark - including 18 that I lost in the week of protein shakes before the surgery.

  18. thank you all for the encouragement. i understand the "all or nothing" perspective because that was me for many years. my mind needs to keep up with my changing body!

  20. yes, my right was much worse than my left and that's where my biggest incision was. try not to over do it and talk to your doctor if it worries you.

  22. I've noticed recently that I've begun to think unhealthy thoughts about eating. I had a Protein shake tonight for dinner because I feel like since I've hit stage 4 and began to eat regular food, the speed of my weight loss has decreased. Then I remembered that I had a piece of donut (the size of a quarter) because I was craving chocolate and now I feel guilty. I felt guilty after a party this weekend, too, even though I really didn't eat that poorly. There were many times before the surgery that I wished I felt guilty for eating and wished that I had anorexia instead of the urge to binge. Now that I'm eating healthy and doing really well on this journey, I feel like I don't want some sort of psychological intruder messing with my mind. I've spent years working on my self esteem and to suddenly doubt myself just isn't me. Has anyone else had these feelings of guilt or wanting to "punish" yourself for not eating right? Just typing this brings tears to my eyes like I'm actually being punished by someone.
  23. try not to worry about the future because you'll have a long road to go down before you get there and it will probably give you perspective that you never thought you could believe. remember that you will not fail. you may have slip-ups or bad days but this does NOT mean failing! go to support groups if your hospital/program offers them -- pre and post op. good luck!
  24. super sexy panties! haha
  25. call first thing tomorrow to be sure but I was never asked about being on my period and i think they would have if it were an issue. good luck!
