Anyone Else Have A Surgery Date In July? Excited And Terrified!

I have been going through all the requirements for months and last week I got the okay from my insurance company and received a surgery date from my surgeon. So many emotions and feelings. Excited, anxious, frightened, happy, sad and all while being confident in my decision. Im not afraid of the discomfort or hard work ahead, but terrified of the worst case scenario's they keep telling me. Im a mother of two small children (2 and 4) and am so worried. I know everyone feels this way, but I don't want to back out from fear. Anyone else feeling like that or having surgery in July like me??? Would love to have some peeps to talk with along the way....

Let's see...I don't really need help with too much, sometimes I need help getting up if I am laying all the way down. I found that I have to sleep on a air mattress, it seems to contour my body n I can sleep on my side. Sleeping in my bed was painful for some reason n its a comfy bed. As far as pills go I'm taking percocet phenegren n pepcud all in pill form n its no problem whatsoever- I just snap them in half n thy r already really small.

Well I made it through! My doc said my liver looked great...I was a good patient and I was doing well! Only had an odd feeling once and that is when the nurse took out the jp drain...it felt like a worm crawling across my belly! Once it was out I could get a good breath. Have been trying to sip every 15 minutes and boy; is that hard! They are not pushing me too much on the protein just yet...have to stay on a full liquid diet for 4 weeks. My medic alert bracelet was waiting for me when I got home and it's on.

Good luck to those going next; you will do great!!!

Congratulations to you let's do this. Thank you for the update' date=' makes me a littles nervous for Monday July 9 ( same as u nustyle). Have had such a struggle with liquid diet. How are you able to swallow pills? They keep adding pills to my plan and I already take a few normally. Now adding the pain meds, anti stone, prilosec and anti nausea I'm looking at close 10 pills.... That's kinda freaking me out. Anyone else worried about swallowing pills after???[/quote']

I was told today at pre op that I will start out on liquid meds!!!

My date is July 16th and I have the same emotions' date=' I joined this site today for support and so far its great.[/quote']

Praying for you and all will be well!!!

This is a prayer that my friend sent to me the night before I had my surgery. She made me promise her that I would say it the day of surgery. I actually was so caught up in everything that I didn't but I did say it the night before and my own personal one right before the surgery. I just wanted to share it in case there's anyone who needs some comfort. Have a nice day. And good luck to everyone who has their surgery today. ????

Dear God:

Let your hand of loving calm be upon me, bringing rest and peace into my mind and body. Bring to my remembrance the skills of my physcian and his attendants, who have been prepared through the years by the gift of your Spirit.

Help me to recall the history of your grace in my life -- all the trials and dangers, both seen and unseen, from which you have been my Rescuer through the years.

Enable me to know you now. for you have been trustworthy in all your doings. Take away all anxiety from me and those who love me, and let us enter this experience with a sense of adventure, to learn from it how to be more obedient servants.

Through Him who trusted You in everything, even Jesus Christ my Lord.

Amen

I hope everyone's doing well, walking and sipping and getting their protein in as much as possible!

I can't believe I'm only four days away. It dawned on me today and I felt a little jump in my belly. I am so excited!

I've been watching a lot of videos on you tube today. There's one series I really like: a girl named kellawanda has her journey chronicled for about three years. There's also skinnycupcake vanee (who's from this board as well). My page is jennijune21 also, I've been doing a vlog as well :-) It's been comforting seeing all of these people that have been so successful with it, for me.

I can't wait until Wednesday - I am so ready!

Hi Jennijune, I think kellawanda is fab too, and she is getting married tomorrow! I started a vlog too - vsg chickadee.

I have my insurance approval and am waiting on a date. I too am nervous...I have a 1 year old and panic when I think of worse case scenarios. But I know this will make our lives so much better!

i am scheduled 7-24-12......so excited!!!!!! hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your a day b4 me! No fair! LOL

Congrats and Good Luck!

Aren't you just so excited???

I think I'm more worried about the 10 days of clear liquids preop than I am of the surgery itself lol. Broth n water starts the tomorrow n surg the 17th. And of course tomorrow is my sons birthday party.... bbq n cake n ice cream for guests... jello for me lol. Lord give me the strength!!

My date is July 9th, MONDAY! I was originally told it was july 5th but the surgeon canceled all surgeries on the fifth and sixth I think cause he wanted to holiday. I had to cancel vacation in august due to my husband now having to take vacation days. Instead however we painted the house and bought a new mattress and slay bed! Anyway I am terrified of the worst as well. I have no prior strokes or clots so I dont have reason to worry more than normal but I am...Good luck with your surgery!
