I've broken 2 wheely chairs at work that have small wheels on the end of them; I guess when I rolled around I put too much weight on the left front leg and they broke off. The janitors asked why I kept breaking chairs and I had to hide my embarrassment. One of my students also said, "My mom says you're fat!!!" and I just smiled and said, "Well, that doesn't mean I can't teach you, does it?" Whenever I would say something about my fluffiness, my kids would say you're not fat, we love you the way you are. Some kids are sweet, some are mean....when I go back to school in a month, I will be down quite a bit so I'm anxious to see what kind of comments I get then!

Hey all...just wanted to ask for some good karma/prayers/thoughts. My surgeon is waiting on some blood work from me that might indicate clotting risks after surgery and it may or may not delay my surgery. I've already been bumped a week into July and if I can't have my surgery, I will just cry! I've waited a year for this! Please send me some strong thoughts to make it through the time needed for the results to come back to the surgeon and that he allows my surgery.

I am about to eat my computer! I can have 6 "supplements" a day (protein bars, protein chips, soup) and nothing else....but I'm so hungry! Somebody talk to me so I won't eat everything in sight! I'm disappointed in myself; it's only the first day and I have to do this for 2 weeks!

As someone who has lost her mom (passed in 2004) she is and will always be with you, you are never alone....when you think of her, know that she is right there with you....she has the best seat now to watch you live a healthy and happy life!
Wishing you a speedy recovery, and happiness on the "loser's bench"
    you will do well....

I sure could use a good luck charm mom; my mom was going to go this journey with me but she passed away suddenly in March. Now I feel like I'm going this road alone....I could use some words of encouragement! My sleeve is July 3rd.

Don't be so hard on yourself! From everything I've read here, the pre-op diet is the roughest part. But it's also supposed to get much better after day four. Hang in there, you will make it! And you'll have a beautiful, petite liver that your surgeon will love.

I had surgery over a month ago....we were at Costco today, and I purchased a slice of pizza for my daughter from their little food-court thing (we rarely have junk at home, and she's had a real yen for pizza the last several weeks)...and this skinny broad in line behind me starts making these very obviously loud comments to the woman next to her about how terrible it is that PEOPLE can't rein themselves in and how last she knew, Costco sells SALADS, etc. People are cruel no matter what. Surgery changes nothing. They have no idea that I've lost almost 50lbs, or that I can barely get down 400 calories on a good day - all they know is that I am FAT, and therefore an out-of-control JABBA THE HUT clone who deserves to be publicly humiliated.
My daughter came home one day and said she was invited over to a friend's house, but was warned that they won't have junk food at home, like we OBVIOUSLY have at our home. Which made me laugh...prior to surgery, I was hypertensive type 2 diabetic, I had to monitor my diet very closely. We had a bag of chips that sat on top of the fridge until they turned stale.
I should mention that even when you do get surgery and you do start losing weight, there's the inevitable comments about how you took the "easy way out", to further invalidate your efforts at health.
Bottom line: haters gonna hate, whether they be kids or adults. If you knew how little people thought of you, you'd think little of them too.
We here are very proud of you for soldiering on and doing what you need to do to take care of yourself. Don't let ignorant comments lodge in your brain
