Anyone Else Have A Surgery Date In July? Excited And Terrified!

I have been going through all the requirements for months and last week I got the okay from my insurance company and received a surgery date from my surgeon. So many emotions and feelings. Excited, anxious, frightened, happy, sad and all while being confident in my decision. Im not afraid of the discomfort or hard work ahead, but terrified of the worst case scenario's they keep telling me. Im a mother of two small children (2 and 4) and am so worried. I know everyone feels this way, but I don't want to back out from fear. Anyone else feeling like that or having surgery in July like me??? Would love to have some peeps to talk with along the way....

Surgery in the morning and I'm scared to death! When I had my hysterectomy' date=' I woke up in the middle of it and I won't go into gory detail but I've had nightmares about it.... I know this will be worth it and I'm sure all will be fine... but as many times as I tell myself that, still scared like crazy[/quote']

RainyGirl,

Will be sending positive thoughts your way. I know how emotional it is. Allow yourself to feel all the feelings and just trust it will all be fine. Waking up during surgery sounds like a nightmare indeed, but knowing your history I'm sure they have a plan to avoid that happening again. I would just make sure to talk to your anesthesiologist before surgery to ease your mind. I did not have a hysterectomy with my emergency c section, but I was lucky to leave the table with my uterus and all that repair and healing was 100 times more painful than this recovery. I have had no regrets at all. Today is 1 week from surgery, I'm 10lbs down and looking to a bright future. I am freaking over protein shakes and looking forward to getting through the next food stages, but just keep reminding myself of what a short time this phase is. We have the rest of our lives to look forward to with new healthier bodies.

I just had my surgery a week ago. First two days were rough due to gas pains. By third day I was feeling almost back to normal. I never had any of the bad soreness in my abdomen (i.e. like doing lots of sit ups). No regrets whatsoever! Just excited about the future!!

Thank u all for your kind words! Good luck and good health to all of us!!!! I'm sure I'll be posting how it went right after recovery lol

have to be in the hospital in about 6 hours, of course I can't sleep!

gave my little ones a ton of kisses before they went to bed

now trying to calm my nerves and catch a few zzzz's before we are on our way!

best of luck to everyone, and thanks to all the people who have already been sleeved this month for sharing your story!

how r you feeling? i Just got home last night.

I'm feeling great, so far. Knock on wood. Just really really tired, hope this passes soon. I've been drinking pretty good had a protein shake today. The pain isn't too bad now. I won't lie, the first day was horrible I was in and out of it thanks to the anesthesia. When they took the drain out on the second day it was definitely easier to take a full breath. How's everyone else doing? Best of luck to everyone still waiting to go in.

July 11....sorry haven't posted for awhile. It's been rough for me. Trying hard to get fluids up before I have to go get some. Eating is hard too... With all the education that I had to go thru I didn't realize it would be so hard. Sorry for those that need the extra it was great but I have to be real this is hard. But I guess if it wad easy u wouldn't stick with it

I feel the same. The first two days were so painful. today i feel normal. the drain is out and i have shower and walked. ready for my new life

Thanks Junior Guru

I am scheduled for July 31st. I am scared, nervous but very excited. I am ready to start my new life of good health. I am ready to be without my insulin pump. I am ready to live life as I used to when I was not as heavy. I am not so afraid of the pain. I just want to be a sucess. I have the drive to do this and I have worked hard so far and have vowed to continue on this life long journey. On the countdown :D
