How Long Are You Off From Work

Recommended Posts

How long do I need to plan on being off work for the surgery. I work as a travel agent and I work from home.

A desk job, I personally felt good enough 3days post-op that I could easily have done an in home desk job.

I took 2 weeks because I'm a truck driver and didn't want my new tummy bounced around that much any earlier. But I think I could have done it at 1week.

I was for 2.5 weeks after surgery. I could have used one more week because I was so tired. I have a desk job.

Wow - people are stronger than me. I have scheduled 4 weeks office. I work at a desk job so it's not strenuous but I work with people who are facing foreclosure so its more emotional. Also, because it's a desk job I am going to have to be careful of not falling into old snacking habits and I wanted to give myself a full two weeks on pureed before tackling work. It will work out well because my first week back is the week of 4th of July so I will work 2 days, have a day off and then work 2 more days before the weekend. Should give me a little time getting back in the swing of things.

I told my work to expect 2 - 3 weeks, but I'm fortunate to be able to work from home in the interim so I don't miss much time from work at all.

I work with quite a few people who have had the surgery and the TAFW has been anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending in the patient and what greenest they had with the doctor. My doctor said minimum 2 weeks but it is up to me after that. I too have a desk job!!

I am having surgery on the 28th and flying back to Phoenix on the 30th - actually planning on (hoping to anyway) go right from the airport to a surprise Bday party that nite - who knows? I don't drink but I might not feel up to it just depends. But I will be back working remotely (as I do most days anyway since I own my business) the next day (Yes I work 7 days a week - 5 - 15 hours a day depending on my clients needs) then I will be back in house with a client on Monday and Tuesday then able to stay home on Wedensday which is the 4th anyway. Even when I had gall bladder removal or breast reconstruction I was back up and moving around and driving within a day or two.

MY doctor recommends 3 weeks off, plus two nights in the hospital. And that's for those of us with desk jobs!

I have a desk job (well I own my own accounting firm) and there is NO way in hades I will take 3 weeks off. If I took any more than a few days off I wouldn't have a business left. Heck I wasn't even off 3 weeks with back surgery (major) and a mastectomy (also considered major). And I am 54 years old. If I am sore or not up to par I will deal with it. Since I am only in each clients office for up to 5 hours max than no biggie. The hour long drives to and from clients might take its toll but again.... I'll deal since I can't NOT work for more than a few days. I'd go insane

I am having surgery June 29, and I plan to go back to work on July 5. I work behind a desk and see a few patients each day, so hopefully, it will be ok. I want to save my days off for vacation, not surgery, so I am going to tough it out.

Isn't the will of the entrepreneur astounding? Seems we will do almost anything to get back to work faster.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
