BJean,

My fill is scheduled for Oct 12. I can't wait. I'm having a lot of head hunger but not doing anything about that. I'm sticking to about 900-1000

Starting at the beginning sounds good to me. How about Monday the 8th? that gives everyone a chance to catch up this weekend on the challenge.

sorry, my finger hit the reply button before I was done. Like I said, I'm sticking to about 900-1000 calories per day. At times I feel like I could eat more. I guess the fill will help that.

Good luck.

PAIN AROUND THE PORT AREA - I think? For four days now I've had this sharp pain in my stomach - on my right side - around my port area maybe, but that could just be coincidence. Not sure if this is band related - or just something else. I'm in my 4th week and just on pureed foods - but I've stretched it to include soft foods that I can puree in my mouth. This pain couldn't be from slippage, could it? I've never thrown up and don't eat past feeling full - but I can also take in 1 1/2 cups before feeling full.

I guess I'll call the doctor if it's not better by Friday. Do you guys think that I have an infection around the port?

Hopeworks: My port is on my left side. You could have pulled a muscle, but I'm no doctor. If you are having pain, I would suggest that you call your doctor - he has the best knowledge of your particulars.

Emily: Sounds like you have a good routine going calorie-wise. I haven't been counting my cals since I moved past mushies. I just try not to eat very much at one sitting and try to stay away from anything with lots of carbs. So far I'm still losing, but a few ounces per day instead of a pound.

Glad you're doing the Christmas Challenge! This is going to be fun!

MOM: Thanks for organizing! I am computer illiterate, so I have never mastered the ticker thing. I keep trying to remember to get DH to show me how. He'll be home this weekend and I'll hit him up. (so to speak)

My sister and I are taking 3 of my grandchildren an 1 of their cousins (ages 16, 16, 15, and 9) to Washington D.C. We leave Saturday and won't be back until the following Sunday. I have not had my first fill so I am wondering how much of a challenge it is going to be to eat out 3 times a day for 9 days. That being said, I'm still in. Let's do it!!! Katt

Good Morning Kiddos,

Looks like Monday will be weigh in day and your tickers should be posted correctly, or you can keep a running total on your signature page by updating your signature each week.

BJean, I'll try to give instruction is you like for the ticker, it took me a while too.

10 easy steps:

1. go to edit your signature (if you click priviate message on the top of this page it will take you there its located on the right side of the page after you click private message)

2. click edit signature

3. you will see two boxes, a preview of your sig at the top and the edit page just below.

4. open a new window in explorer go to www.TickerFactory.com

5. follow the steps for "weight" and when you see the 3 boxes at the bottom after you complete the required information. left click holding down the mouse and highlight the first box ( I have found that the other boxes do no show on my signature page just the letters of the website)

6. right click your mouse and click "cut"

7. you should already have your signature page open, Minimize the ticker page

8. left click on your signature edit page and then right click and paste.

9. at the bottom of your screen you will see a preview signature buttom and you will be able to see what it looks like.

10. after its right where you want it, you can click save!

All of your posts will now have your new signature page with the ticker.

I hope this helps, it took me a bit to figure it out too.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
