Dean, I haven't had to take any fibre post op - probably because I don't eat enough Protein and why I am now anaemic!! I would suggest asking your dietician or surgeon first. I have also been contemplating one of those expensive juicers since I have spent all of my Christmas break in bed watching TVSN and shopping online. Without sounding like an advertisement for TVSN, they have the Vitamix for $995 with part payments. I would love this but then I am a kitchen gadget person. My kids are complaining that we don't have a juicer anymore. Let me know if you get one.

Hey' date=' do you guys do any fibre supplementation?

I haven't been as regular as pre surgery, which isn't surprising my diet at the moment is really high Protein. I should eat more vegetables but I can't seem to fit it in.

The last two days I've taken a single 2/3 dose of Metamucil mid morning. I was worried about a full dose exceeding the size of my stomach. I've also been thinking about getting a Vitamix.

What do you guys do?

Deano[/quote']

Hi Dean, like you I am eating my Protein first and don't fit in much salad or vege, but I have fruit and Water as well as grainy carbs and don't have a problem with fibre.

I've look at Thermomix and they are amazing but expensive. You can make anything in them from ice cream to Soup a

Or a roast to salad. I would love one, but more useful for a family to use then just the two of us.

Maybe I need to be not so Protein focused and have some grainy carbs. It's bizzare not craving carbs. Because there's not interest in carbs anymore I just don't think to eat them!

Hi Dean, are you seeing a dietician? Mine told me that I must have a min of 3serves of grainy carbs each day and that is the most important thing to stay regular, plus it gives you the energy you need. Too much Protein will definitely clog you up!

Hey Kelli. I've seen a dietician twice. Once pre surgery and then two weeks post.

I'm 8 weeks post op today (26kgs down, yeah!) And I'm due to see her at the 3 month mark, but I think I might try and get in earlier. Thanks for all the advice - a big help.

Have a great day,

Deano

Good idea, I saw mine twice before surgery then 4 times in the 5 weeks after surgery as it was a six visit program. It was invaluable advice.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
