Just Watched A Video And Scared Myself

Recommended Posts

K, for those in the know...what about the drainage tube? Can you tell me about it? The video I just saw said it is in your chest cavity and it's really long and stays there until you are ready to leave the hospital. She said it is very painful and even more so when they take it out. Now I'm even more worried. Great.

My doctor leaves a drain in for 6 days and it was not painful at all. It also didn't hurt coming out just kind of a strange feeling but no pain at all.

Hi Carly :)

I had a drainage tube and it was in for about 2 days. It was removed the day before I left the hospital. I won't lie it was pretty uncomfortable and was hurting when I had to move my torso with it in there. Also when the Nurse removed it, it was pretty creepy feeling. All that said, it wasn't so much painful as it was annoying and strange feeling.

They pull it out quick though and once it's out it's easy to forget about. Especially when you're doing your happy dance as you look in the mirror wearing your tiny clothes. ;)

O my goodness. So some people go home with a drain, and some people never have one? Guess I should have been more thorough in my questions to doc. Thanks, y'all for the responses.

Mine will have to stay in for a whole week!!! I do not like foreign objects lurking about sticking outta me so that part makes me wanna cringe but its gonna be soooo worth it so I am gonna suck it up and do what I gotta do to get through it!!

The drain freaked me out and I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't until the last day, but that was my fault I accidentally pulled on it. I was a big baby when the Dr. came in to take it out and was shocked at how pain-free it was. It was a strange feeling but definitely not painful. I had it in for two days.

I didn't have a drain tube either. Maybe you could call your Dr. office and speak w/the nurse or a staff member who could tell you if you'll have one :)

Thanks y'all. Maybe I will call today and find out! As the days draw nearer, the nights get shorter from missing sleep. Worry, worry. I appreciate the responses- a little foreknowledge is helpful.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
