MinMin reacted to njs_star627 in Approved!yes you read the title correctly I have been approved by aetna for my surgery!!! It's kind of surreal. The case was just opened on march 23rd pending the clinical file. I called this morning around 9 to see If the file had been received from my surgeons office and the rep said its pending and she can't see into the file. I called back to speak to my case worker and the rep stated I was authorized... I froze and said wait does that mean I'm approved?!?!?! She laughed and said yes. After I jumped up and down called my mom texted everyone (lol) I wanted to call back to hear it again. Low and behold my case worker called me and confirmed!!!! Today I am starting my liquid diet and the excitement is holding me right now lol. I assume now all I do is await my surgeon to call me confirm the date and give me my next steps!!!

No, he wasn't being rude, he was being a TOTAL A$$H0LE - excuse my language.
YES, he has to protect himself from liability on those he did not treat but good gawd to come out and say something like that is so totally unprofessional and just A. H. -ish (I just invented a new word ) as to be incredible.
Look for an independent group if there is one, you may be stuck with just something like this forum because of your remoteness. And remember YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME HERE.

MinMin got a reaction from emelia.larock in Calm Before The Storm?I took my own robe too, it felt so much better than the hospital gown. I listened to my MP3 player a lot - the hospital I was at has you up and walking quite a few times a day - I watched TV and dozed off a lot - I think I was too groggy to read. I didn't think the pain was too bad, I had morphine, then liquid vicodin but didn't use it. Good luck!

MinMin reacted to Ramses in Sleeved 3/8 Please HelpWow see this is where we differ I was on a strict clear liquid for a week before i could even try protein. On week 2 I was able to try some protein drinks and soft cream based soups. As far as I can remember all I could do was sip sip sip water for about 4 to 5 days then gradually I was able to increase my water intake. I dont think I could have handled protein well on my first week out, I could barely tolerate water so I did a lot of sugar free pops.

MinMin reacted to SleeveDreamer in Sleeved 3/8 Please HelpLuckily i can say never experienced any pain after my surgery. However, I was not allowed protein drinks that soon. You should stick to clear liquids, and wait til you get realeased to full liquids before you try any shakes or anything you can't see through. You can have sf jello, broth, sf popsicles, room temp drinks are better. Try not to rush it and you will feel more comfortable. Your sleeve needs a week or two for the healing to start.

MinMin got a reaction from Veda in I Find The Operation StupidThis is on my Drs. page, I am at four months out. My surgeon's PA explained at each appointment what I should and should eat and gave me a handout of the phases. I had a one week follow up, two week, then six week, then three month. In two months I have my six month follow up where blood work will be done. Maybe this will give you a guideline if you don't have a clear one from your surgeon.

MinMin reacted to Rootman in So Tell The Truth . . .How may of you success storied sleevers catch yourself preening in front of the mirror now?
I came out of the shower - same shower I've been in thousands of times over the last 15 years, caught sight of myself in the full length closet door mirror and started making muscle man poses and running my hands over the FLAT tummy of mine. Yep, there is a little pucker below my tummy, a tiny little bat wing under the arms but I look better now then I did in my 20's!
Sorry, had to brag!

I get in at least 65 a day and it was probably around 4-5 months out before I could do so without a shake or Protein supplement. I eat greek yogurt for Breakfast every day and that really helps. I still need a protein shake sometimes when I'm traveling.
here's a typical day for me at 9.5 months:
Wake up and have a soy latte (8-9 grams of protein, depending on the soy milk I use)
Breakfast: Cup of non-fat Fage plain greek yogurt, 1 slice whole wheat toast, 1/3 cup fruit (23 grams protein for the yogurt, 3-4 grams for the toast)
lunch and Dinner: 3 oz. of solid protein and some vegetables. A little starch if I have room. (15-22 grams of protein depeding on whether I eat lunch meat, light cheese, chicken breast, shellfish, etc)
Favorite protein snacks: light cheese, beef Jerky, light salami, soy milk in a latte or sweetened with sugar free syrup.

MinMin reacted to longer-life in Replying To PostsI agree with this. Andersonlj you were called rude on another post and I agreed with that too. I don't know what is happening to you. The other day I thought one of your posts was so sweet to a fellow poster that I mentioned it on one of my posts. I am here shaking my head. There is a fine line between being honest and rude. I walk that line everyday and hope that I don't cross it. You are crossing it.
