Its not over the top at all. We have to take our health in our hands.

I am excited and nervous! My surgery is Dec.5th and as the time quietly approaches, I continue to get filled with mixed emotions. I too am grateful to have forums such as this where I can express my feelings and get as well as give support with others who know what this is really like.

Lawyergirl same here. Mixed emotions for sure but thanks to faith and the wonderful support offered by this site I can be at ease :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone! I was sleeved last Wednesday (Nov 16) and now in adjustment mode. Liquid diet (ugh!) My surgeon did not have me do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet, only on the day before surgery, so now it's kinda hard to do. BUT, the good news is that I'm really not hungry. The problem is getting the fluids in me. I don't "feel" to eat so I have to time drinking my fluids and protein shakes. Anybody else have this problem?

Hello family,

I was sleeved 10 days ago today. So far so good. The biggest complaint I have so far has been gas and even that is not so bad. I barely had any pain. I'm looking forward to losing weight and taking my life back and I'm glad to be a part of this group.

Hey folks! Just to update you I was sleeved last Monday, 11/21. I am home and doing well as can be expected. No issues or pain really. The dent where my stomach was feels a little heavy and sometimes gives a dull pain. My mother somehow managed to look after me and clean my house. In the midst of everything my birthday was great. I was at home with my family and all of our dogs so all was well. I do greatly miss eating. I will be a foodie for life so not being able to have anything was hard. The sleeve makes it easy though since I am struggling to drink 4 oz of liquid in an hour. Fullness and gas are the results of overdoing so I am learning my limits early. Keeping up with multiple medications and Vitamins is difficult since I have to space them out throughout the day, but even that's getting better. I set my phone so it can give me an alarm for each thing. I see the doctor next Monday and hopefully can move on to pureed foods. Chewing food is a treat that I will not experience until close to Christmas.

I hope all is well with everyone and that your journies are blessed.

Congratulations cuteascanbelizzie!! Any advice? Glad to hear everything is progressing well. I received approval on Wednesday and have to meet with my surgeon on Friday. I believe my surgery will be scheduled for the week of December 12. Please keep us updated on your progress and any tips or nuances you discover along the way.

Hello all!! I will be sleeved on December 8 and right now I'm just trying to figure out the things that I will need post-op. I go for my pre-op appointment this week so we will see how that goes....Good Luck to all

Hey Peeps!!

Just checking in.. My holiday was good.. I drove to MS to be with my family.. but I caught a bug or something... I was soooo sick on Friday.. I didn't eat a lot, but I did have more sugar than I normally do... it's good to have relatives in the medical profession ... my sister popped me w/ a phenergan shot and sent me to bed!! I felt 100% better in time to drive back to Chicago...

I'm a little anxious about my last pre-op appointment w/ my weight loss specialist.. I've been picking up old habits of missing meals!! UGH!!! Well, one day at a time... I keep telling myself..

Congrats to those who have been rocking their sleeve!! I pray you guys keep up the good work!!! Do let us newbies in on the secrets to success!! LOL...

Best Wishes

Tina

Happy Wednesday everyone. I am 8 dys out from my surgery and feeling great. I am soooooo ready to chew something however but I am going to take it slow.....5 more days and I will eat a scrambled egg with a pinch of cheese for breakfast...I am so excited :)

Hi all! I'm now 2 weeks post being sleeved! I'm feeling great. No pain, just bloating and gas if I try to eat or drink too fast. (Gas-x thin strips seem to help though) Hopped on the scale and have lost 14 pounds since surgery. Now that I am increasing my meals to more varied meals, I hope I don't gain. I know I won't because I can't eat much and I am still post-op diet, but, the "big girl" in me is nervous because she is craving something crunchy, something to chew. UGH!

Hey folks! Just a brief update. So I am halfway to the two week mark but I am beginning to struggle right now. My surgeon requires a 2 week liquid diet preop and 2 weeks post op. I had planned on trudging through while catching up on work and my favorite tv shows, however I had a death in my family. I'm not sure if this happens for you, but when someone dies in my family people bring food, lots of food. In the case of my family, people have brought something different delicious, delectable and devilishly bad for anyone. The funeral for my family member is Friday and there is a repast after the services. Arrrgggh! I'm ready to pick up a chicken drumstick and go for what I know. :banghead:

In my most recent post many of you asked about advice and I will say this to anybody what I am telling myself. THIS WILL SOON BE OVER! You will be able to eat later. Give yourself time to heal and your body time to rest. The chicken, ham, fish, green beans, and mash potatoes will be there. You made a choice in order to make yourself healthy and going back to the hospital or making yourself sick is simply NOT an option. This journey is about loving yourself without using food rather learning healthy habits. I will say this though, black people have a habit of socializing around the table and right now I feel like I am separating myself because I am venting while everybody is partaking in the fresh fried fish and hush puppies. :confused5:

Thank you all for being my outlet!

Lastly, you can do this if I can. Honestly you can! :cornut:

Hi everyone! I'm Elise. And I was sleeved on Nov 16, 2011. I'm trying to adjust to the liquid/mushy diet and must admit I missed the "crunch" factor. I will be strong, the time will come. LOL! Anyway, I'm glad to find you guys. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

I am Nikki and I am pre op doing my 6 mo for vsg if you would like to follow my story closer I am on you tube nikki1985hart :) and congrads on everyones progress stay intouch :)

Hey Hey Hey!

I was sleeved 11/9 and actually had some complications I was in and out of the hospital the entire month of November. This is actually the first week I’ve felt GOOD! I had so much pain it was ridiculous and I haven’t experienced any in the past two days. Im hoping everything goes completely uphill from here. Finally able to get some good sleep and lay on my right side lol.. Im eating foods that are easy to chew and become mushy no red meat yet but crab and scallop was dinner last night. I cant get to much down but I take my time. Hope you all are well and taking care of yourselves.
