sweety93 reacted to Rainydayz in Alcohol Post OpI'm jealous of all the folks that say they're a cheap drunk now! It hasn't affected me that way. I had the first glass of white wine at 8 weeks and I didn't get drunk. I had liquor at 10 weeks and didn't get drunk. Now I can have a few drinks in an evening and it does the same as it did before surgery. I get a buzz but not drop down drunk. Not that I want to ever get drop down drunk! Guess it just shows that we are indeed all different.

sweety93 reacted to kcsmicah in 3 Months Out Too Soon For A Half Margarita?I had two glasses of wine this past weekend (4wks out). I didnt have any problems. Just treat it as you would any other new food. I don't know if I would try hard liquor though. Non sparkling wine worked good for me.

sweety93 reacted to Catracks in Alcohol Post OpPersonally, I don't believe in the NO-FOREVER list. I mean, unless one is an alcoholic, why the heck not? I'm not a drinker, but I like one occasionally. I certainly take the Eucharist every Sunday and have been since 2 days post-op.
I think the no soda forever is BS as well. Yeah, like it's going to pop my sleeve. I can burp ya know. The upper esophageal sphincter works just fine thanks.

sweety93 reacted to Amanda 3.0 in Urgent - Advice Needed PleaseI agree with the others. You need to be able to concentrate 100% on you following the surgery. I am sorry you are going through this!

sweety93 reacted to Pookeyism in Urgent - Advice Needed PleaseI would have to suggest you to put it off for awhile. It is hard advise to give, knowing how close you are, and how I felt when I was where you are.
I lost my Mom on my 1 week post-op date, and can attest that you are not going to want to have to deal with anything extra if you do not have to at all!
I am so sorry for your situation. My family experienced a fire when I was 10, and I have had many friends experience loss this way. It will take years to feel completely over it. It is a very stressful event. Deal with it for what it is, then get back to your WLS.
God bless!

sweety93 reacted to Trixie in One Week Post Gastric Sleeve SurgeryI thought I would post an update on my surgery. I'll be one week post-op tomorrow. Everything went fantastically well.
I had the procedure on Monday and was released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. I have had very little pain, even in the hospital, and didn't ask for pain meds after they removed my morphine pump on Tuesday morning. I was up and walking on Monday afternoon, and did my best to walk a few laps around the hallway every 2-3 hours as proscribed by my doctor. I swear, that makes all the difference in the world!
I'm convinced that my surgeon, Dr. Wier, is the most compassionate, caring surgeon around. I would highly recommend him! We had a great, funny moment in the hospital when Dr. Wier came by on rounds on Wednesday and found me talking to @hirskborn, another of his patients, who was there visiting me. The look on his face was priceless.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words when I last posted about my journey to having this surgery. Through VSTalk, I have made at least one RL friend in addition to a supportive online community. This forum is invaluable.
Before she died, I promised my mom I would have this done by the end of the year, and I have.

You guys are so right.
I know that I should not have eaten it. I am on puree diet, and the NUT gave me a recipe for a pureed cheeseburger. So I got one, only I didn't puree it, I took very small bites and chewed it up until it was liquid and ate really slow. I should have just pureed it like the NUT said.
I will not do this again. Although the burger did have tomatoes, and lettuce as well cheese and very little bacon, and it was a very small burger and Yes about 1/4th of the bun.... but I still think that I could have made a better choice.
I'll do better next time LOL

sweety93 reacted to 100%Sleeved in Spit - dont swallow!Wow this is tooooooo funny. I'm still on the liquid stages and my little girl is home from school and she begged me to cook her an egg and cheese omlet (my husband was taking care of these things but he went back to work yesterday) I could no longer take it so I put a piece in my mouth, chewed it and spit it out. No harm done. back to liquids lol :blush5:
