Kat I am so sorry you're going through this. I always feel so bad for anyone who ends up with complications, since I had such an easy time. It seems to me, everyone should.

There is a whole forum on complications where I am sure would find a lot of people who had a really rough start. You mentioned you wish there were others who would come forward.

I'm praying for you every day that you heal as soon as possible so you can start enjoying your new life.

Kat have you written or contacted the Dr. That did the surgery, to let him know what you have to go thru now, maybe there can be some compensation, for you. He should know how the care after has affected you. You have the proof to send him from your Dr now. Think of you every day so sorry u have to go thru this,,

Hi !! I'm 55 and I've got 2 weeks to go until I get my surgery. I just started my pre-op diet today. I'm excited about making this decision to get my weight under control, but at the same time, scared! I think if I can get through these first couple of days on this crazy diet, I'll be okay. I'm very glad I found this forum so there's some place to discuss my feelings with people who understand what I'm going through. Congratulations to all of you who have already been through the surgery and doing so well on your weight loss. You're all truly an inspiration to those of us still waiting.

Hello Everyone :-) I'm 8 days from surgery, had my pre op visit with my dr this morning withy dr and I'm down 8 pounds from being on my full liquid diet that im on till surgery day ^_^ it's truly amazing to watch my body transform even thru what has been a VERY HARSH liquid diet prescribed by my dr. I don't crave food, what has been harsh is my body 'detoxin'g from the years of bad dieting that I admittedly put it thru. The detox symptoms are FINALLY starting to ease up a lot, and I feel SO good today! One of the keys to me is remembering to take your Vitamins, getting in the required Proteins, & drinking plenty of Water.

Good luck to everyone!

Welcome Vikki and best wishes sent your way. The liquid and Protein is especially important after the surgery. I am 3 weeks post op and finding it very difficult to get in my protein and fluids in. Can't wait to hear how you do.

I just turned 54 last week, my surgery is on 8/02. I cannot wait to have the surgery done. Hoping to feel better (and younger) as I lose the weight :)

Thanks New_Hope :-) I'm wondering how I will be able to get it in myself post op. if I might ask, what was your experience from surgery date to now, 3 weeks post op as far as how you felt right after surgery, when you were discharged, and now? How's your energy? How was the pain levels? As far as being satiated, is that immediate?

Vhoke1...welcome to the 50's group. I'm also a newbie to the group although I was sleeved. 4/6/12. For me, the surgery went well, some discomfort but no real pain. I was up walking hours after surgery, using the bathroom, making phone calls, watching tv...I had a morphine pump for pain but didn't really need it only in the middle of the night to sleep. Got home the day after surgery. Drank my Isopure, it wasn't the best flavor, but I knew I needed protein....also had beef and chicken broth and iced green tea, popsicles. Almost 11 weeks later, I know positively this was the best decision for me.

I hope it all goes well for you too!

Yes I'm in a stall but I am going back to basics no carbs, plenty of Protein and lots of Water. It's so easy to relax and not eat the right things but if you just look at what you are eating you will figure it out. Get back on track and the weight loss will start again. Good Luck to all having surgery soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
