June 2006 Band Crew

Barbara.............it does seem you have had more than your share of problems. I am hoping things will settle down for you soon. I think we are all ready for some normalcy to return to our lives.

Water is always recommended for Constipation and with your success with the H2O Challenge you should be in good shape. Does the Activa give you more Fiber? Water and fiber "should" take care of your problem.

We're all pulling for you...........good vibes coming your way.

Just realized I updated my H2O challenge, but didn't post! Oh well!

I am still losing slowly, but it has nothing to do with restriction, cause I don't have any! I am just doing pretty well chosing the right foods to eat and drinking lots of Water. I am still hoping to get in for a fill the week of the 21st. I'm ready for some rapid weight loss!!

I've posted a few times and have been adding my smileys! Why aren't I listed too?

:update: H20 CHALLENGE:

We have 3 posting a perfect week:

CindyCam, Leila Raven and Pinkylee :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Barbara came close with 6

Cathy posted 3

Poodles posted 1 (didn't keep up with posting--but is drinking more water)

Congratulations on another week!

Our main challenge seems to be fills. We had some real positive results last week by increasing our Water intake. If you have any comments for this week--please share them.

I'd like to continue posting on the water challenge for at least 4 more weeks (and longer as long as we have interest) Doesn't it take 6 weeks to develop a new habit?

Thanks for posting and good luck this week.

Want to join? PM me for the info.

Hi,

I too am feeling frustrated with my weight loss. I do not think I hav any restriction at all.. I have an appt for 8/17 for my 8 week post op...I have not had any problems physically.. Never nauseous or stuck.. I am down about 20 lbs but nothing in the past few weeks.. I think being able to have lots of food choices has messed me up psychologically... I was better on soft foods and liquids.. I didn't go through this surgery to just lose 20 lbs...I have started going to Water aerobics 2 days a week.. I have not been walking 30 min a day like my dr. ordered.. My water is usally more than 64 oz daily...but my calorie intake I am sure is high...i don't write it down...

As far as the reunion goes , sedona in June does not sound appealing to me.. a cruise would be ok ,,,,vegas would be good...

Susan

I just came off of a week long convention/vacation. I did great. I managed to lose 3 lbs!!

Its a new month and I'm about to go on another type of fast. My best friend started a lemon cleanse so I decided I would support her and do the same. I am not looking forward to this, but what is a friend suppose to do. The ingredients are way worse than our liquid fast, so I will need to pray myself through the next ten days.

After 6 weeks, my top incision decided to erupt. My regular doctor gave me an rx for anti-biotics for 5 days. I ended up back at the Dr's yesterday with the infection getting bigger, and becoming a hard bump, and he gave me a new rx for 4 times a day for 10 days - and some cream to resolve a huge rash under my left boob. It's made me tired, and I'm not drinking enough Water. I'm not doing enough anything.

The scale moves down and up, and so do my emotions.

I drink most everything, having Protein Shakes, diet ice tea most of the time. I don't see how some of you can snack on stuff, I still have a hard time with chicken! I'm afraid of most foods anyway.

Not enjoying myself right now, at all.

Randi, do you think maybe you might be too tight? I can't eat everything, but I can eat chicken and other solids with a lot of chewing. If you're not able to get solids down you may be too tight.

Also, if your antibiotics don't kick in, make them put you iv antibiotics. It's a pain, but your infection will have a much better chance of going away and if you're not getting enough fluids in, they can hydrate you at the same time and your body may respond better to the drugs. Just offering unsolicited advice! :)

To both Barbara's - I get it.

I'm 55, and I think the age has a lot to do with it now.

When we were younger, it was easier.

I have had an infection on my top incision for 6 weeks, and now for a few weeks the anti-biotics I am taking really slow me down.

I don't know how much this is all costing me yet. They keep billing my insurance outrageous amounts. I hope I don't get more bills, as I paid my part the day of surgery.

So, depression has always been a part of my life, just because I got a band, nothing was said about it fixing that....

I am reading this book "fat girl" and I swear, I wrote it. It is like reading my life story - except she had a daughter, and I have twin sons.

We are really all so similar, and while some people who start off in the 300's or more seem to lose more quicker, we'll all catch up somewhere.

As far as the fills, and unfills and pb's and sliming <which I did tonite on mixed tuna> had I really known this was such a major part of the "tool"

I may have gone for Jenny Craig again.

Chins up girls.

Oh, and add my name to the list please: Randi L - and I live in Ocean Hills CA - <near San Diego>

Lasonyadj...........boy it's nice to hear something positive. Keep up the good work. Let us know more about the lemon cleanse.

Randi L............you are probably right about age being partially responsible for our problems. Let's not let that stop us. If you're like me you've spent most of your adult life fighting your body and mind. Being overweight and depression have influenced everything in my life and I think I deserve some relief from both.

I'm starting the H2O challenge today and I'm sending good vibes to all bandsters out there today!

I'm feeling better today and have a renewed look on this. We can do this. It is going to present challenges, but what doesn't? We have tried all the diets out there. They didn't work for us. We just need to find the right combination of food, Water, and exercise. It takes time, but we will get it right.

I do think that the older bandsters have a few more challenges. However, my recovery was so quick and easy that it just surprises me. I have many muscle related issues and they have seemed to be minimized over the last weeks. I also bought a Phillip Stein watch in Alaska that is supposed to put the electricity flowing through your body in a better way. Or something like that. All I know is several days after wearing it I started feeling better. I forgot about it until a week or so after surgery. I kept saying how great I felt and it must have been the anthesia. Then I remembered I started feeling better before the surgery. I know sounds crazy, but I'm not taking this damn watch off.

Didn't get my water in yesterday, but I'll do better today. Guess I'll also start some fiber tablets. I don't want any repeats of this.

Hang in there everyone. We are going to make this and we will see the pounds start coming off. Don't pig out over the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
