Favorite already made protein shakes?

Recommended Posts

Starting my dr supervised 6 month before band diet today. She wants me to drink a Protein Shake every day for Breakfast. 18-20 grams of Protein. I know powder will be cheaper but I would like to have some already made up ones on hand for when I'm running late or don't feel like getting the blender out. Any suggestions?

Also, most of the recipes I've seen on here call for the blender. Anyone have any that you would just shake up in a Blender Bottle?

Thanks!

Premier Protein - chocolate. I buy them at costco, but I'm sure you can find them somewhere close to where you live. Here is a link to their website.

Hi, yep i get the Premier Protein chocolate shakes at Sam's Club. Good for on the go but i prefer the wey Protein Powder from Wal-mart mixed with unsweetened almond milk better. Tried chocolate Peanut Butter first now ready to open vanilla flavor. I always add a banana or frozen berries in too. You may want to just go ahead an keep ur blender out handy cause it will be used often. good luck :)

Before I left the hospital, when I got the band, they gave me high Protein Carnation Instant Breakfast. Not the best, but had worse. They had to make sure I could hold it down, I guess. I use a small Hamilton Beach blender that is under $20. at Target/Walmart and it is also the drinking cup.

Good luck with your new journey.

I can tolerate the Pure Protein Shakes RTD from Wal-Mart of Target. They have 23 grams of Protein. They are in an aluminum "bottle" can. I twist off the cap then replace and then I shake them up. This prevents a mess if you shake and then open. Some say there is a can taste but they are pretty good and convenient. It's only 120 calories. I like the Frosty chocolate. They are about $6 or $7 for 4 cans.

I like muscle milk,, it's a good taste.. GNC also sells some shakes that are pretty good... I haven't ventured into the whey Protein powder yet .. I don't use Protein Drinks much anymore.. only when I get a fill or if I am on the go... I heard the premier or premium brand is good also but our Walmart doesn't carry them.

I use Body Fortress from Walmart. I mix 8 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk with one scoop. I don't even use a blender anymore, just one of those blender ball bottles.< /p>

A friend of mine who had sleeve surgery in December and works on the road every week gave me a great tip. He went to the dollar store and bought a handful of small juice bottles - 12 oz size (to accommodate shaking and ice). He makes a batch of drinks in the morning, fills his cooler with the bottles he needs for the day (or two), and is on his merry way. When he's ready for one he can choose to add ice and shake some more or just sip on one as he's driving. It's more cost effective than buying the premade ones and he can make the flavors he likes that aren't sold in individual ready-to-drink varieties. Great idea if you work on the road or are traveling during the Protein Drink phase. I bought a few of the bottles to take with me on our all-day fishing trips. Also took one the other day when the hubby and I went to the casino for a few hours. He had lunch while we were there, I had my shake. Worked perfectly!

I like the EAS Carb advantage shakes. I add sugar free Syrup flavors for different tastes. I am extremely picky about taste and texture.

I like the EAS Carb advantage shakes.

I have been drinking these for a year and a half. Haven't tired of the chocolate ones yet. Tried the vanilla and strawberry but they didn't taste good to me.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
