Hey Luvbug, I have my surgery tomorrow and something that I have fallen in love with is...I use less than tsp of olive oil, then I add tsp of roasted garlic, (from jar) then I cut up 1/2 onion; and a tsp of hotsauce; I let them saute until the onion is a little soft; then I add a can of chicken broth until it comes to a boil. I strain before pouring into my Soup cup...When I tell you it' smells wonderful, and tates fantastic; and it's really fulfilling!

Any fans of pumpkin? Here's a pumpkin Soup recipe i've tried and it's awesome. It's very versatile, you can add and take away whatever you want, modify it however you like. If you want more, just double up on ingredients.

1/2 large can pumpkin

1/2 carton low sodium chicken broth

1 small onion or 1/2 large onion, chopped

2 medium carrots (or some of the small baby carrots)

1 celery stalk

1-2 cups nonfat milk, cream, half and half, or whatever other creamy you like. Soy or almond milk tastes kind of funny with this.

salt, pepper, garlic, ginger, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, cloves, etc...to taste. Whatever you like.

little bit of sugar or stevia if you like sweet Soup, none if you like savory

Simmer the veggies in the chicken broth until very, very soft. Add veggies and broth to blender w/ pumpkin ( I do a little at a time to make it smoother) when smooth, put back in pot on stove, adding milk as needed until desired consistency. Add spices to taste, add more milk or chicken broth to taste and for desired consistency. Pour in a bowl, and eat up!

Cherg,

I am on the same page as you. I was told clear liquid only. No creamy and no watering down the creamy Soups. I am so sick of broth. My stomach is contantly rumbling. I wonder who is right or if it's the doctor we went to that makes the difference?

I was just banded on Friday in Mexico. Great experience altogether, besides the 7 hour drive back home to Vegas...it was a nightmare. Anyway, before I left, I made beef stew as a healthy food for my pre-op diet. I stuck a few zip-llock plastic containers of it in the freezer. Took it out, warmed it, and strained the broth out. DELICIOUS. It had potatoes, onions, carrots, peas, garlic, rosemary, and a bunch of other herbs, a packet of stew beef from the meat secton. One packet of "beef stew" powder packet in the cooking section of grocery store, and beef broth. The powder packet thickened it up. It's really good and satisfying. Gonna try it with chicken Soup next.

Hey every one' date=' I thought I would start a stages recipe thread for the 3 stages. Maybe a mod can make these stickies. Then when ever we want a recipe from a certain stage we can check out these threads, and if we find a good new recipe we can post it in the threads. What do you guys think??[/quote']

Sounds great count me in.

Made this yesterday, and boy, it sure hit the spot. High in Protein too, without the powder! I have this great program that allows me to enter the ingredients and amounts, then provides the nutrient profile per serving.

Black Bean Soup

1 16oz can fat free refried black Beans

2 packets or cubes of beef bouillon

2 cups Water (or less if you like it thicker)

½ cup V8 (use spicy if you want to kick it up a notch)

½ tsp Salt

1 tsp Garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Strain and store in covered container in refrigerator. Individual servings can be micro waved as needed. Makes 36oz, or 6 (6oz) servings.

I made this the other day however, I left out the Water and thinned it with additional spicy V8 and I also tossed in a can of cheddar cheese Soup and man is it tasty. My wife even joined in and grabbed a cup of it but she got to add some corn tortilla chips to her meal. A half cup serving was just right for me with a dollop of fat free sour cream on top. Mmmmm, I'm having some for lunch right now.

My first two weeks post op my dietician advised only have what would go up a thin straw and 6 x 50mls a day

So I would have 50 ml vege and fruit juice, 50 ml of blended canned Soup and 50 ml of banana/mango and skim milk smoothies with some plain yoghurt. I had each of these twice a day varying the type of juice, soup etc.

It was at the mushie stage I struggled to get variety

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
