Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Wow I cannot believe the difference in all our post-op diets. I was banded before many of the last members posted (Feb 21st) and I'm still stuck on full fluids until Wednesday. I actually didn't have much of an appetite until today (thankfully), and now I am so ready to move to pureed foods!!!! I would love to be eating oatmeal and eggs, so hopefully I will be able to tolerate them! How is everyone doing with their gas pains? I no longer have the terrible pain in my neck and left shoulder, but I find every time I drink my full fluids, I get bloated and gassy and have to burp....this can cause me a lot of pain and I can't stand up straight for awhile. This worries me because I am starting back at work tomorrow. I do make sure I sip slowly and have only a cup at a time.

Ok, i goofed! Nursekellys post got me to look at my menu again and i am NOT supposed to eat oatmeal until day 14 and today is day 6!. I hope i didn't screw up anything because I'm noticing i don't feel as full when i eat. Ive only had it maybe 3 times for Breakfast but i wont have it again until I'm supposed to. HAving said that, it didn't bother me at all. So, my diet s still considered FULL liquid, just thicker pureed Soups, yogurt and broth.

I don't know how you're still doing Clear Liquids NK, are you sure you cant have the same as mine? I feel for you! How much has everyone lost in the first week or so? I cant help it but i get on the scale every morning. Im losing a pound a day for now.

I have lost 10 lbs since 2/28. I can have pudding, Jello, grits, cream of wheat, broth, mashed potatoes, sf popsicles, blenderized Soups, and 3 Protein Shakes a day. Ready for the 14th..get to add fish, seafood, soft veggies, crackers, and eggs. Definitely having to learn to eat slowly and drink outside of meals, It is worth it though...10 year anniversary on september 19th..gonna be in that bikini..lol

Are there any others set to get banded in February? My doctor's office called to tell me my insurance approved me & set my surgery date for the first! After going back & forth for a couple years & now just completing the 6 months (well technically 7 months) weight loss consultations' date=' it's going to happen. I'm not so sure how to feel about it. Nervous? Excited? Worried? Happy? I thought I'd see if anyone else is getting ready for it all, & see how they're dealing with it. Input from veteran bandsters would be great too! :) Tips on what to expect, need, & advice would be greatly appreciated.[/quote']

I'm scheduled for 2/6!! Can't wait!

Question: 3 out of 4 of my incisions feel healed but the incision/ port site is still very tender. I have no bleeding or discharge it still very sore. Is it normal for the spot to be tender and sore longer?

Also, my port site isn't on my waist and my waistbands do not come in contact with it.I get my staples removed Wed. Any responses would be helpful TY!!!!

I am 4.5 weeks post op and my port incision just healed, and is now feeling better. I think it's the biggest incision and usually the thickest area so it just takes some time.

Since we are talking about incisions.... I am a week post op and i took the covering off my ncisions and three of the four are raised and im wondering if thats going to go away or always look like a scar?

My surgeon told me it would take the longest because that is where all of the biggest instruments are inserted during surgery. So there is more scar tissue there too that can burn or be sore as it breaks up during the healing process. No worries, I'm sure it will feel better soon. :)

I am day 4 and having the same soreness only in the port incision the only difference is mine are glued and I never had them covered! I am not wanting this to take a month yikes!! I still do not have an appetite yet I have been forcing myself to eat a couple of spoonfuls of broth and 1/2 a sf Popsicle I can drink plenty but no desire to eat yet figured I would be starving by now??

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
